WOW!
Mother Nature used every crayon in the box today, bringing us an ever-changing sky. The morning began soft and moody, then slowly warmed as the sun found its way through the clouds. Just when I thought the show might be over, the light shifted again… and again.
The flock gathered along the water’s edge, perfectly content to grab a bath in the tide pool while the landscape unfolded around them. They bring the reminder to enjoy the moment, take time for a little self-care, and soak up the beauty along the way.

Good Morning!
Ahhhhhh… the morning was still and reflective, with the wet sand mirroring the artwork in the sky.
A chatty flock flew in, darting off and back a few times without warning. They said, “We can sense the subtle shifts around us. We trust what we feel and move together when it’s time.”
As the sun rose, the color show morphed from soft pinks into a gorgeous golden glow.
The flock brings the message of connection and lifting one another up. “When one senses a shift, the others pay attention. When one takes flight, no one has to fly alone. Stay connected. Trust what you sense. and when it’s time to rise…follow the flow.”

Be ready to take action
With more rain on the way, the sunrise was cloudy with a beautiful color show. Frogs serenaded the morning as the clouds soaked up the ever-changing colors, reflecting them back on the wet sand. The flock was very chatty and enjoyed bath time in the warm ocean.
After sunrise, I ran into Hawkeye, the red-shouldered hawk, having breakfast. He said, “Breakfast doesn’t always come with a reservation. Keep your eyes open and be ready to take action when opportunity lands.”

Good Morning!
With rain on the way, the sunrise was moody and bluesy, with just a hint of pink giving us a calm start to the day. The wet sand reflected the soothing beauty back toward the sky.
The chatty flock flew in ready for bath time and conversation, and this little gull was especially expressive.
She said, “To stay healthy, I share my feelings with my flock mates instead of holding them in. They’re really good at listening and not taking it personally when I get a little attitude."
"A little understanding, connection and someone who lets us be exactly where we are can be pretty good medicine.”

Rock & Roll with the boys!
The male dolphins were working the mullet with incredible precision this morning when Cliff suddenly started splashing, twisting and thrashing around.
At first I thought it was fish related....
Then he surfaced and I saw it — a pretty large remora attached to his belly!
Looks like Cliff was doing his best to shake off his hitchhiker.
Never a dull moment with these boys.

Good Morning!
As I walked to the beach, the soft clouds were already soaking up the baby blue and pink colors. The clouds kept the morning quiet, making the shore feel like it was wrapped in a cozy blanket.
It was so good to see Olive Oil, the laughing gull with an oil gland issue, taking a bath. Her tail feathers hang down and she often looks wet.
She said, “Healing comes from daily self-care. Bath time isn’t just fun, it’s an important part of supporting my body. Rest too! Resting and bath time help me thrive, not just survive.”

Good morning! No sunrise photos today. This sweet laughing gull had fishing line around its belly and looked like it was in the beak too.
S/he is at the wonderful Marine Science Center waiting to see the doctor.

Meet the waves
First light brought a beautiful pink glow, illuminated by the bright full moon. As the moon set, the golden sun rose above the huge waves, calling all the surfers out to play.
The wind blew across the tops of the waves, sending golden crystal water droplets sparkling into the air.
Pixar looked strong, hanging almost effortlessly in place and letting the wind do the work.
And the surfer heading straight into those big waves brought one little morning reminder: “Sometimes the waves look huge from where we’re standing. Trust yourself. You can still paddle out and meet them. You got this!"

What an honor to be included in this upcoming author event.
I’ll be joining fellow authors Lee Davis Jr. and Sean Donovan for Authors on the River: A Literary Luncheon at The Grille at Riverview in New Smyrna Beach on Saturday, October 24 at 11:30 AM.
I’m looking forward to sharing a little about my journey as an author, photographer, and storyteller — and the unexpected path that has led from documenting the wildlife and beauty around me to creating books that invite people to slow down, connect, and see the natural world a little differently.
The afternoon will include author presentations, Q&A, a meet-and-greet, book signing, and lunch.
I’m grateful to East Coast Current for the invitation and excited to be part of it.

Courage to be authentic
The full moon was bright and huge as it made its way down, setting for the day. Cool temperatures brought a hint of fall, accompanied by the churning ocean. The energy felt invigorating.
The flock flew in ready for bath time, even though the ocean current was powerful. They said, “Nothing stops us from our self-care time — especially when there is a full moon assisting us in letting go of the old.”
A bird couple duked it out over their front-row pole. They said, “This full moon reminds us to look at where we might be holding back from stepping into our authentic selves.”

A rare sighting
It was another fifty shades of grey start to the day, so I thought I’d share an oldie but goodie.
On this morning, I looked to the south and saw a surfer walking down the beach with what looked like his dog… but it was a coyote.
The coyote walked right along with him and even watched as he headed into the water, looking like he wished he could go too.
Then he dug a few holes, gave himself a few good scratches, and disappeared into the sea oats.

Shake it, new perspective
With gusts over 30 mph and a gray-and-white start to the morning, I checked on the flock and headed home before my gear got sandblasted.
I thought a little osprey athleticism would be a nice way to begin the day. Animals know the power of a really good shake — sometimes you just need to shake off the stress and find a different perspective.

Slow time by being present
It was a moody, bluesy kind of morning today, with dark clouds stretching across the horizon and only hints of light finding their way through.
Then the sun appeared through a heart-shaped opening in the clouds, as if Mother Nature was reminding us that light has a way of finding an opening.
A pair of dolphins played in the waves for just a few minutes before disappearing as quickly as they arrived.
They bring us the message of being present in the moment. They said, “Some of the most beautiful moments are fleeting. When you are fully present, those flashes of beauty can feel extended, giving you time to soak it all in.”

Equinox…allow both the light and the shadow
Ahhhhh, what a beautiful morning! The cloud game was especially fun today, with shapes everywhere inviting the imagination to go wild.
Mother Nature seemed to know it was the Equinox, giving us a beautiful balance of light and shadow — mirroring the planet’s own moment of balance between day and night.
After sunrise, what looked like an immature, Red-shouldered Hawk perched on a roof, keeping watch for breakfast and bringing us a bird’s-eye message: “Sometimes when we rise above our situation, getting a glimpse of the whole picture, we can see more which might make the next step a little clearer.”
On this Equinox, the birds remind us to find the higher perspective, stay grounded, travel a little lighter, and allow both the light and the shadows to belong.

Down on the sand, the laughing gulls left behind tiny footprints and scattered feathers. They said, “Shedding our old feathers is how we make room for the new. When we are fully in the moment, our little footprints leave behind our signature.

School is in full swing....mullet run. Jagger taking advantage of the feast while Momma Grace and baby Poppy nurse and snuggle. A gorgeous tricolored heron landed on the mangroves in search of the tiny fish.

Good Morning!
The morning was still, with a layer of clouds hanging over the shoreline like a cozy blanket. The color show stayed mostly moody and bluesy until the saucer-shaped sun found an opening, sending golden rays into the morning.
Pelican Highway traffic was moderate heading southbound, while the very large — and very chatty — flock gathered for bath time.
The sun brings the message today, "Not to worry when things feel cloudy. The sun always finds a way to shine through. EXHALE, and trust the timing.”

Drama in the sky today! A bucket-list moment.
A bucket-list moment in the sky today! Two bald eagles gave me an incredible aerial show, circling, diving, and spinning together overhead. When they were not spinning out they were chasing the osprey.
My usual lens is in for repair but nonetheless, happy to capture the drama!
Let yourself be heard
Good Morning!
The color show this morning was soft pink and blue, with a lovely silver light dancing across the ocean. It felt soothing and peaceful, definitely an EXHALE kind of morning.
A pelican veered off the highway, pulling into the rest stop in search of breakfast. She seemed to enjoy the waves rolling right by, like a gentle massage.
After sunrise, I ran into a mockingbird singing proudly from his perch. He said, “Find your song and let it be heard. Be yourself, and sing like no one is listening.”
