Tales from the Lagoon ~ Happy 1 Month Old, Poppy!

Tom with Salt Life Expeditions, a jet ski rental company, and a man who truly cares about our local wildlife, shared that he saw Momma Grace give birth to Poppy on August 9! Thanks for the date of birth Tom!

How cool is that?!

Today, little Poppy is officially ONE MONTH OLD!

My first photos of Poppy were when

S/he was just 7 days old. What an honor it has been to document her first month of life and watch our newest little calf grow, play and discover her lagoon home.

And then I found something REALLY cool…

While going through older photos, I found a photograph from May 2021 of a mom with a newborn calf — and her dorsal fin looks remarkably like Momma Grace’s fin today!

If it is indeed Grace, that tiny calf from 2021 would be Poppy’s big brother or sister!

Happy one-month birthday, little Poppy! Keep popping!
