Relax into the waves

WOW!  What a gorgeous morning. The pre-sunrise sky glowed with soft pink hues, and a hint of fog added a gentle, dreamy vibe.  The chatty flock flew in enjoying the island of sand that high tide created.

As the sun rose, traffic on Pelican Highway picked up. Pelicans streamed in from the south, gliding gracefully over massive waves. Surfers came from ever nook and cranny including a duck to catch a wave.

Today’s message comes from two ducks in the surf. One flew out early and waited patiently for her partner. The other? She rode the waves all the way to shore. At one point, a wave overtook her completely, and for a moment, she disappeared from view. But not to worry—she simply laid flat, letting the water carry her gently to the sand.

The surfing duck said, “Sure, the waves can feel overwhelming sometimes. Just go with the flow. If you get covered up, relax—it’s only temporary. Enjoy the ride… you never know where you might end up!”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Bald Eagle, Dolphins And Pelicans, Oh My!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Bald Eagle, Dolphins And Pelicans, Oh My!

What a day! While Daniko, Jasper, Cutter, and Charley, the male dolphins were grabbing snacks, the bird drama unfolded.

A bald eagle drifted down from high in the sky and picked up a piece of fish that he forced an osprey to drop. The osprey was screeching bloody murder but the bald eagle took the fish and flew away.

Pelicans were raining from the sky, rapid dive bombing the mullet while dolphin were swimming through the schools of fish.

Daniko and Jasper, a couple of male besties were very engaging, more from them soon.

Unplugging feeds the soul

With the full moon just two days away, Mother Ocean is already feeling the pull—sending foamy waves high onto the sand. The flock greeted me at the water’s edge, sporting the latest fashion trend: foam feet.

As the sun rose from behind a huge cloud, golden light spilled across the sky, wrapping the morning in warmth and a hopeful vibe.

One gull, perched on what looked like a tiny island sculpted by the ocean’s power, delivered the message of the day. She said, “Taking time away from the fray to restore balance is healthy. You may feel like you're on an island, but solo, quiet time away from the barrage of stimulus is healing for the nervous system. Unplugging is a way to feed the soul.”

Let what is important come into focus

The sunrise was invigorating, with a whipping wind and a churning ocean. Sand danced down the beach, carried by the breeze, creating ever-changing works of art. A chatty flock flew in early, using the wind to hover in place and connect with each other.

As the sun began to rise, it appeared perfectly framed in an opening between the clouds—its golden entrance a striking welcome to a new day.

A flock of sandpipers flew in fast, riding the wind in perfect formation, each leaving space between the other. They brought with them a couple of messages to carry into your day.

They said, “In the close-up photo of us, you’ll notice one bird is in sharp focus while the others blur. They said, “Focus on what’s in front of you. What needs your attention now? Let the rest blur for a bit.”

“We stay in sync by tuning in to each other—that’s how we avoid traffic jams in the sky.”

Nature and hugs to to feel better

We're starting the day with a bit of rain, so I thought a dose of manatee wisdom might be the perfect way to begin. If you're feeling stressed, try plugging into nature—it’s a powerful way to calm your nervous system. And if you can, take a moment to hug the one you’re with.

Spending time in nature and sharing a heartfelt hug both help lower stress hormones, boost mood, and support overall well-being. A simple way to start the day feeling more connected and grounded.

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Wildlife Athletes

Yesterday the dolphins and pelicans were living up to their spring time shenanigans. Mullet was in the menu, creating a bit of mayhem as the dolphins chased the fish and the pelicans chased the dolphins.

Only the elite athletes get in the mosh pit, it can be a bit dangerous but rewarding if they hang in there.

Molting is just temporary

Ahhhhh… Mother Nature gifted us a calming sunrise to start the day, once again dipping into her golden color palette from earlier in the week.

The ocean looked like a textured blanket, gently rolling toward the shore. A chatty flock flew in, using the soft breeze to hover in place.

A molting pelican brings us the message today. “We all go through changes—just like molting. Have you ever felt like a hot mess during a time of transformation?"

"I can relate, just look at how many feathers have fallen out! But remember, the old feathers have to fall away to make room for the new. That ‘hot mess’ feeling? It’s only temporary. Soon I will be stunning and feel amazing, thanks to the molt."

Balance for overall health

Ahhhh a serene and soothing sunrise to start off Sunday.   The pre sunrise clouds soaked up the pink color reflecting on the wet sand. A chatty flock was already at the edge of the shore when I arrived ready to connect and get squeaky clean.  When the sun came up, it filled the sky with a golden glow.  The energy felt hopeful and extra calming.

The lagoon was busting after sunrise with a huge pod of dolphins bellied up tot the mullet buffet.  Momma Bump and her calf were among the feeding frenzy.  She said, “I recommend spontaneous fun with balanced quiet time just hanging with your pod. You see, balance is an important part of overall health.”

Remain open even when feeling ragged

Mother Nature brought us another buttery golden sunrise today. With no wind to stir the air, the morning felt peaceful and soothing—just what my nervous system needed to restore a sense of calm.

The chatty flock arrived early, full of chatter. They shared, “Yes, we squabble—but in the end, we know that floating together and lifting each other up is how we survive and thrive.”

Shortly after sunrise, a solo pelican glided by, his wings open wide and catching the reflective light.

He said, “I’ve lost a few feathers along the way. I may look a bit ragged, but I’m here to remind you—stay open. Keep your wings and your heart open, ready to connect, even when you feel stressed.”

Embrace your unique self

Ahhhh, Mother Nature brought us a soft and calming sunrise to start the day.  It was similar to yesterday starting out grey and white with a hint of pink until the sun came up streaming golden light.

A very chatty and large flock of laughing gulls, herring gulls and ruddy turnstones flew in looking beautiful around the sun. The laughing gulls are getting their mating colors ready to head north.

One of the gulls with a one red and black foot said, “Dare to be different.  Go ahead, embrace your unique self.  Be bold and let the world see your authentic self.”

Just after sunrise, the lagoon was bustling with life! Ospreys, cormorants, pelicans, and dolphins all gathered to feast at the mullet buffet.

The cormorants, bold and fearless, swam right into the school of fish—even as the dolphins were feeding. Their bravery paid off, rewarding them with a feast of their own, scoring multiple fish.

Dig Deep to get the crabs out

Mother Nature brought us a grey and white pre sunrise with just a small hint of pink.  Once the sun was up, a buttery golden glow filled the sky, streaming light bringing us a hopeful start to a new day.

A small but chatty flock flew in to enjoy bath time and soak in the sun.  After sunrise the lagoon was bustling with life.  So many characters grabbing breakfast, more from them soon.

An immature ibis was digging for breakfast and hit the jackpot—a crab buffet. The ibis said, “I’m here to encourage you to dig deep to get the crabs out. Sometimes they’re buried deep, but trust me, once you get them out, you’ll feel better. Happy digging!”

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Cutter a Male Dolphin

Cutter has been in the lagoon a lot the last week. Even when his pod mates leave, he stays and enjoys relaxing, grabbing snacks and teasing the pelicans.

He has a really fun personality. He seems to be the one who initiates snuggle time by turning on his side and waiting for his friend to come play.

The dorsal fin is like their fingerprint- that how they are identified. He has quite a few cuts making him easy to identify- and how he got his name.

Self care makes you look and feel beautiful

Mother Nature welcomed April with a pretty-in-pink springtime sunrise. Gentle waves rolled toward shore, calling to the surfers to come play.

As the sun rose, it kissed the ocean on its way up, casting a golden glow to the pink glow ready to brighten the day. A few laughing gulls and herring gulls, still lingering in town, gathered for their morning bath.

One laughing gull flapped in the water said, “I highly recommend taking time for self-care. I love the feeling of getting the bugs off—just look how pretty I am doing it! You see, self-care makes you look and feel beautiful while washing away stress.”

Your energy sends out ripples

With an overcast sky—a mix of fog, fifty shades of grey, and a dash of pretty in pink—the sunrise was wet and cozy. The chatty flock had already gathered at the ocean’s edge, ready for their morning bath.

The misty air and soft light gave the morning a soothing embrace, a gentle way to ease into the week with a sense of peace.

In a nearby pond, a duck glided effortlessly across the water, sending ripples outward. She seemed to whisper, “I am a reminder to nurture and support yourself. As you follow your intuition and move forward, your energy sends ripples to those around you.”

Be the calm in the current for others.
