Stay open new opportunities are coming

This morning’s sunrise had it all—clouds, rain, a rainbow, hundreds of birds, and streaming rays of light.

The beach was wing-to-wing with birds, most likely travelers from North Carolina heading south to avoid Hurricane Erin. Big waves rolled in, their tops blown into wisps of sea spray by the breeze, creating beautiful art.

After sunrise, a brief rain shower passed through, followed by a two-minute rainbow arching to the west. Just then, the flock got the zoomies, darting and circling in front of the rainbow as if to gift us a moment of pure magic.

The flock and rainbow bring today’s message of spontaneous new opportunities. The rainbow said, “I often appear after storms as a reminder to keep the faith, even when uncertainty lingers. I am the bridge between challenge and renewal.”

The laughing gulls chimed in, adding, “Stay open to soaking up the colors life offers you. Each hue carries possibility—sometimes subtle, sometimes bold, but always worth noticing.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Harness the elements around you

It was still dark when I walked to the beach, the path lit only by a sliver of moonlight. From a distance, I could already hear the waves churning their way toward shore.

With Hurricane Erin nearly 1,400 miles away, her presence could still be felt in the strength of the ocean’s current. Photos couldn’t capture it—so stay tuned for a video.

As I paused to take in the first light, the flock arrived. On windy mornings they often get the zoomies, and today was one of those days. They hovered in place, letting the wind hold them steady, then darted off and circled back together, moving as one in a breathtaking dance.

The flock embodied the quiet strength of unity in motion. They said, “We are here to encourage harnessing the energy around you. Rather than resisting, flow with the elements of your surroundings, and watch the magic unfold.”

Reflections offer guidance

Mother Nature gifted us with a breathtaking reflective sunrise. A shelf of fluffy clouds lingered over the ocean, soaking up shifting colors for nearly an hour and streaming a funnel of golden light into the morning.

A great morning for the cloud game!

Let your imagination go wild.

The flock was extra chatty and ready for bathtime in the tide pool. Pelican Highway was heavy in both directions.

Courtesy of low tide, the wet sand reflected the breathtaking art on the horizon bringing us the message of the day. “Notice what’s being reflected back to you. Sometimes it’s clarity, sometimes it’s a nudge to make a shift."

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Pause, ground into the earth

WOW! As I walked to the beach, I was greeted by enormous pink and lavender clouds surrounding Jupiter and Venus, shining like jewels in the dawn sky. Excitement filled the air as the flock was already gathered at the water’s edge, ready for their morning bath.

The wet sand mirrored the masterpiece above, reflecting the colors in a way that made the world feel like a living painting. Pelican Highway was bustling in both directions, while s

sharks glided through the shallows in search of breakfast.

Today’s message comes from Mother Nature herself. “Pause and ground into the earth. Let your bare feet sink into your part of the earth. Breathe in the air. Allow the beauty around you to restore your spirit and remind you that the simplest moments can feed your soul.”

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Nature’s Toys and a New Baby!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Nature’s Toys and a New Baby!

Last night the lagoon was full of life with two moms and their little ones, along with several playful male dolphins.

The evening began with Momma D and her calf, joined by a mom I just met and her new baby. The calf’s faint fetal bands—those stripes newborns carry from being curled up inside the womb—were still visible. Over time, those lines gently fade away.

The kiddos kept busy, delighting in nature’s toys, mangrove seeds and floating leaves—while the moms rounded up mullet for dinner. Uncle Larry and Jagger, two males, swam alongside the ladies, lending a fin with babysitting while also snagging their own fish.

As the sun dipped lower, the moms and calves headed out, leaving Uncle Larry and Jagger behind. Soon they were joined by M and Charley, two more males, and the energy shifted. The four bachelors kicked up some serious splashing with vigorous fish-chasing antics to end the evening with a flourish.

Jagger is in front, Uncle Larry to right. They were hanging with the moms and kiddos. When I first met Uncle Larry in 2018 he was the male with a maternity pod. He has a number 963 on his dorsal fin - I was able to find out his age from the number- he's around 46 years old.

Spontaneous play To shift your mood

Ahhhhhhh. A salty breeze and a pastel sky filled the morning air thirty minutes before sunrise. It’s been a week of pink rays streaming into the sky, and today didn’t disappoint. The very chatty flock gathered at the shore, ready for a new day and bath time.

As the sun rose, the colors shifted from soft orange to a vibrant gold. A spinner shark leapt in the distance, just before a pair of dolphins swam past in search of breakfast.

One playful dolphin leapt halfway out of the water, bringing the message of play.

She said, “Moments of play can create a shift and lighten your mood. I highly recommend breaking into spontaneous play to feel better.”

Trust your intuition to see below the surface

As I walked to the beach, the air was still except for frogs chatting in the distance. A soft pink glow filled the pre-dawn sky, stirring anticipation for what was to come.

Pink rays stretched across the blue backdrop with Jupiter and Venus shining high above. The calm ocean glistened in every color of the crayon box as the sun rose, kissing the ocean good bye.

After sunrise at the lagoon, Skylar the osprey lifted from her boat perch and soared toward breakfast. She said, “My ability to spot a fish from a distance reminds you of your own insight to see beyond the surface. Trust your instincts and intuition to guide the way.”

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Pelican Hugs a Dolphin

A pod enjoying playtime, snuggles, and… a hug from a pelican?

Well, almost.

The dolphin was chasing a fish and swam right into a pelican who had the same idea. For a split second it looked like a hug, but really it was a fish-chasing collision. The pelican quickly stretched his wings backward and the dolphin zipped past—both got right back to the chase.

Cooper’s Hawk message

Ahhhh… the color show 30 minutes before sunrise was breathtaking, a soft pastel masterpiece across the sky. An angel-shaped cloud flew north just above the flock of gulls below, all gathering for their morning bath time.

The ocean was calm, with a few gentle waves rolling toward shore, making it easy to spot dolphins and sharks grabbing their breakfast.

After sunrise, while I was in the river, I was thrilled to see my first juvenile Cooper’s Hawk visiting the lagoon. She perched high above on a porch, surveying the morning with keen eyes.

She said, “I’m here to encourage you to rise above the noise so you can see the bigger picture. When you step out of the drama, the quiet will bring you clarity.”

Zen Self Care time

Jupiter and Venus were still close together in the sky this morning, joined by delicate pink rays streaming into the blue above and reflecting on the glistening wet sand. A subtle breeze carried a hint of salt, offering gentle medicine for the soul.

The large flock of laughing gulls was busy getting squeaky clean as the golden sun emerged, framed by wispy brush strokes of clouds.

One gull offered a little wisdom, ”I highly recommend using self-care time to meditate. Slow down and be in the moment. As you pluck away the old, you create a moment of zen that fuels your battery for the day."

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode: Quality Time with a Dolphin

Ocean, a male dolphin I first met back in 2018, spent 4½ hours in the lagoon today. His best buddy came and went, and a small pod with Uncle Larry and Jagger popped in briefly for an afternoon snack before heading out.

A couple of young pelicans and a few manatees drifted in and out, but Ocean was the steady presence all day. This video condenses those 4½ hours into just 90 seconds—He enjoyed playful snacks and a lot of time just hanging out.

Special thanks to the kind people who shared a video clip—it’s featured at the end!

Jupiter and Venus together bringing blessings

As I walked to the beach, I could see Jupiter and Venus close together, shining brightly. Along with the moon, the celestial sky was breathtaking. Huge fluffy clouds slowly drifted along the horizon, soaking up the colors as the sun came up to greet the day.

So many birds! Laughing gulls and terns scattered along the reflective scene. A royal tern couple chatted—well, technically one talked at the other—while a laughing gull worked to get a feather unstuck from her beak.

Today’s message comes from the favorable sky of Divine harmony. Venus glows with the energy of love, beauty, and peaceful connection, while Jupiter radiates generosity, expansion, and higher wisdom.

Together, they create a cosmic embrace. They invite us all to lean into romance, creative inspiration, emotional renewal, and the sense that blessings are all around us.

Give yourself a good shake

Mother Nature used every type of brush and every color in the crayon box creating a intricate beautiful start to the day.

Pastel colors filled the sky, reflecting on the wet sand transporting us to another world. The chatty and large flock of laughing gulls were joined by a dozen royal terns and a solo egret.

The royal tern giving himself a good shake said, “Us birds and dogs know a secret about staying healthy. Did you know a good shake is a great way to shake off bugs, stress and conflict. Give it a try, a little shake goes a long way to feeling healthy.”

Trust and lean back

As I walked to the beach, a cool breeze hinted that fall had arrived early at least for the day. A huge flock of laughing gulls, joined by a couple of skimmers and ruddy turnstones, gathered at the ocean’s edge to welcome the new day together.

Mother Nature chose a soothing, moody blue palette, with clouds draped across the sky adding a cozy, calming vibe.

The laughing gulls remind us to keep our wings — and hearts — open. One said, “It’s safe to lean back; you are supported.”

Close to shore, a pelican stretched wide to grab breakfast, reminding us that sometimes you’ve got to reach a little farther for what you want.

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - New Baby Dolphin and Friends

There’s a new baby in the lagoon! Today brought a lively cast of characters — Luna the osprey, Spot the egret, and a playful pod of dolphins. Luna, who usually spends 4–6 months of the year at the marina, seems to have arrived early this season.

Out on the water, the dolphins were in full play mode — tossing mangrove seeds like toys between snack breaks, then spending long stretches just hanging out and enjoying the day.

Manatee Love & Power

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Manatee Loving

Yesterday after sunrise about 10 manatees were snuggling in the channel. Not the best location for a snuggle fest but at least with so many the boaters could see them.

At the end they gave a good kick! So many reasons to give them space, so they can enjoy their snuggle fest without getting injured.

Ripples of self love

Jupiter and Venus hovered close together above the ocean as my feet touched the sand. The big, bright full moon was setting while the sun rose from behind a dramatic landscape of clouds on the horizon.

More than a hundred laughing gulls gathered at the shoreline for their morning bath, joined by a handful of graceful egrets. Everyone was taking time for self-care.

The full moon and birds bring us today’s message. This particular full moon is charged with power, in deep conversation with multiple planets.

The man in the moon said, “This month I am assisting you on many layers. Now, more than ever, is the time to let go of what no longer serves you. Slow down. Use my energy to refine and illuminate your path. Trust your heart to guide you — it always knows.”

The reflective birds added, “Self-care is a form of self-love. Fall deeper in love with yourself, and you’ll send ripples of encouragement out into the world.”

Manatee Wisdom

The sunrise was a moody bluesy overcast start to the day. Today’s post is inspired by the manatees I saw yesterday, video coming later today.

8.8 is a powerful day, paired with the energy of the upcoming full moon — an invitation to open your heart to what’s ready to arrive while staying grounded and peaceful.

Yesterday, the manatees reminded me how to do just that. Their quiet strength and gentle movements show us that power doesn’t have to be loud, and progress doesn’t have to be rushed.

Today, the manatees encourage us to move with intention, rest when needed, and trust the current to carry you exactly where you’re meant to go.

Sunrise, Surfers, Sharks and Dolphins Oh My!

Sunrise, Surfers, Sharks and Dolphins Oh My!

What a sunrise!! The sun came up unencumbered, bright and beautiful, illuminating the perfect waves with a variety of colors from start to finish. The waves were spectacular, calling to the surfers and dolphins to come play. Watching surfers and dolphin enjoy the ride was so fun!

While photographing a surfer to my right I felt a presence to my left. When I looked down, a large shark was swimming by just a few feet away grabbing breakfast.

S/he was only interested in the goal of fish. The shark said, “Use your sensitivity to help you sense the distractions and stay focused on your goal.”
