Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Sunset Party

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Sunset Party

I am away from the sunrise this morning so sharing a few photos from last nights sunset party with our message for the day.

Lots of dolphins all around, Momma Jade and her kiddo Opal spent a few hours relaxing and grabbing few fish. Other moms and their calves along with several adults were in and out grabbing snacks.

The message comes from the glider person buzzing the Marine Discovery Boat. A lucky tour for sure, surrounded by dolphins and a close encounter with the flying man.

He brings the message of expecting the unexpected. People, places and things can show up in surprising ways to add a little zest to your experience.

Wishing you a zesty kind of day friends!

Feel lighter with an open heart

Inhale, Exhale, Repeat.

The morning was still and serene with the absence of a breeze and the ocean looking like a lake. Perfect wave washed over me as the sun came up to great the day, taking any stress away.

Like Zac Brown band and Jimmy Buffet sing, "The ocean is my only meditation. Sunshine gonna wash my blues away. When you lose yourself, you find the key to paradise."

The flock of gulls came in at their usual time for bath time. All at once, they opened their wings and began to lift off.

They said, “Having open hearts and wings will help you feel lighter making it easier to lift up. We like to do this together, sharing the experience with each other adds to the sweetness of the day.”

Wising you a beautiful day filled with joy!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - It’s a Whopper!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - It’s a Whopper!

It was a pretty busy day in the lagoon today. Several momma dolphins and their kiddos stopped by to grab snacks and relax.

Daniko and Jasper two male dolphins and a few others were snacking and snuggling.

Most of the dolphin were grabbing mullet, but I did see one sheepshead and the whopper jack crevalle.

The dolphin with the huge jack was feeling very playful. He grabbed the fish and swam at a flock of cormorants who were also fishing in the same area.

On the way by, with the fish in his mouth, he gave the bird a gentle bump with his head from underneath.

I’m pretty sure the dolphin was giggling and bragging.

The cormorant was a pretty good sport about it and went back to fishing.

Stay tuned for more tales!

One step at a time. Find your pod

Mother Nature brought us an abundant sunrise with loads of wildlife and every color in the crayon box. The morning started quiet with a pink filled sky.

The chatty and huge flock of gulls flew in early to take a bath and watch the sunrise. AS if on cue when the sun was up, the gulls popped up in front of the sun with their wings open ready to soak up the light.

Perfect waves rolled toward shore catching the sweet light making beautiful art. An egret brings us one of the message today. He said, “Take it one step at a time. I find it helps to slow down and feel each step, let yourself absorb each moment. Slowing it don helps to calm your nervous system and bring inner peace.”

After sunrise a large pod of 12 dolphins were frolicking in the deep water. Moms, babies and male dolphins all enjoying some snuggle time with a little fishing.

They said, “We bring the message of community. We encourage working and playing together. For us, our pod brings us our home, love, safety, collaboration and play. We wish you a loving pod you call home.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

You are stronger than you think

Ahhhhhhh, With the absence of a breeze and lake like ocean the morning was exceptionally serene.

The flock of gulls flew in before the sunrise while skimmers, ducks, cormorants and a pair of dolphins enjoyed grabbing breakfast. One of the gulls hanging near the sun inspired the song Walking on Sunshine.

As the sun came up, it looked like it was melting in the ocean before rising up filling the sky and ocean with a beautiful orange light.

An osprey flew overhead with a huge and heavy fish. He said, “I’m here to remind you that you are stronger than you think. Just like I pulled this huge fish out of the water, you too can grab onto your goals, even when it feels challenging. Keep the faith, you got this!”

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - 3rd Year with Young Simba and His Mom

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - 3rd Year with Young Simba and His Mom

One of the things I didn’t anticipate when I stepped into the lagoon in 2018 is that I would get to know the residents on a personal level and even get to see them grow up!

I met Simba and his mom Sarabi on April 7, 2021. He was a spitfire, full of playful energy. He would swim circles around me then splash me with his tail.

Then he would race over and tease the pelicans by bumping them or giving them a bop with his tail. As you can see from his eyes, he was having so much and definitely loves to play.

When he returned again in April last year, I was so excited to see them both looking well. One early morning on April 15 he and his mom came over and he jumped out of the water just a few feet away! That photo is on my website. That’s when I got a good look at his belly and confirmed he was a boy.

Male dolphins have an exclamation point on their belly- a long line then a smaller line while females have a division sign- one long line and 2 small slits on each side.

He and his mom are still very close, swimming next to each other almost always. They love to cuddle and smooch too. If you have the wildlife calendar, Simba and his momma are the February photo.

This year they arrived this week, February, rather than April. When I first saw them, I thought Sarabi might have a new baby with her, but Simba has a white mark on his head which I was able to see to identity him. He also has a chunk missing on his tail.

Tales form the Lagoon~ Episode- Pip the Pelican with a Public Service Announcement

Tales form the Lagoon~ Episode- Pip the Pelican with a Public Service Announcement

Hi Everyone! If you are just tuning in, my name is Pip the pelican and I’m a brown pelican. Last year I tried to eat a filleted sheepshead fish which got stuck in my gullet, it was a very scary time for me.

Lucky for me several Hoomans helped remove the boney fish from gullet. The road to recovery was a long one! It took about 9 months to get back to feeling strong and healthy.

Yesterday, young Eddy the pelican picked up a fishing lure and was thinking about eating it when I went over add took it from him. Actually, I thought it was a real fish so I was being dominant and stole it.

It’s a good thing I did! He is young like I used to be and he may have eaten it had I not taken it. I swished it around in my pouch a few times just to make sure it wasn’t a real fish then I spit it out. Shelley picked it up so none of the other birds would eat it.

Please be aware of your fishing gear, including live fish hanging off a dock, fishing line, lures and hooks. Us pelicans are curious and hungry, a combination that can get us into trouble. It’s true we would try to eat a fish hanging on a line in the water.

Thank You! We need all the help we can get to stay healthy, strong and thrive.

Stay tuned for more tales!

You may have to dig a little

Mother Nature liked the sunrise so much yesterday she created a very similar start to the day today. With perfect emerald waves rolling toward show while the sky exploded in a pink and red color show.

The breeze was damp and cool with a hint of salt. The flock of gulls flew in at their usual time for some much needed bath time. The water felt cool and rejuvenating.

A flock of oyster catchers flew by at mach speed bringing us the the message today. They said, “We are the largest Florida shore bird and pretty. We use our bills to open mollusks which is how we got our name."

"We are a reminder that you may have to dig a little to get to your goal. Be open to investigating and the discovery process, it’s half the fun.”

Trust your gut

Another stunning sunrise with amazing swirly colors in the sky. A cloud in the shape of a phoenix or eagle looked like it was soaring high in the sky. The sun came up surrounded by soft bands of clouds, kissing the ocean good bye as it left for the day.

Perfect waves rolled toward shore soaking up the beautiful light. The waves remind us of cycles. They said, “Waves come in different intervals. Patience is key to catching the momentum we offer. You will know when to jump on, you will feel it in your gut. Trust that feeling, hop on and enjoy the ride!”

A chatty flock of gulls flew in chatting the entire time the sun was coming up. One Legger and Hook were together bringing us the message of hanging with like minded flock mates.

After sunrise I ran into a duck couple who said, “We have a similar message to the waves. You see, we paddle on water and can take swift take flight. We are here to remind you that you will always know when to paddle and when to fly. Today is all about trusting you and your intuition to overcome any obstacle. You got this!”

Keep your unique essence in a team

The pre sunrise was oddly mostly black and white with a hint of pink. When that happens it usually means the sunrise is going to be amazing….and it was. As the sun came up it found a hole to stream the light through like the BatMan Ray.

The light continued to stream until it was a full funnel of light high and low, filling the air with a hopeful vibe.

The flock of gulls flew in at their usual time while a crowded Pelican Highway flew southbound. A flock of oyster catchers were also on the highway headed northbound.

A flock of red knots or sand pipers (any of my bird friends want to help me out?) joined One Legger and her flock on the beach for some much needed rest. One Legger said, “To stay strong I need to rest. Even just a quick nap can hep refuel my battery.”

The new flock said, “We bring the emerge of being a part of a team but also remaining an individual. You see, we know together we are stronger but also how important it is to keep our unique essence.”

Magic of play shifts the energy

Weeeeeeeeeeeeee! The wind was whipping and chilly this morning. The fluffy clouds were zipping along the horizon with the wind while ether ocean churned with intensity. The vibe was more invigorating than serene.

The flock of gulls flew in low to the ground and hunkered down to watch the sun come up. Only a handful were brave enough to get squeaky clean.

When the sun came up, the golden light streamed through the clouds changing the energy from intense to hopeful.

After sunrise a pod of dolphin were passing by when a couple of the younger dolphins started flying. The spontaneous joy made me smile.

They said, “When things feel intense, remember the wisdom of a child and the magic of play. Spontaneous play can shift your mood. Just watch a baby giggle and you will feel it.”

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Spa Play DaY

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Spa Play Day

It’s been a surprisingly relaxing spa kind of dolphin week. There has been a lot of chilling and relaxing enjoying the calm water and sunshine. Today was no different, it started with a maternity pod, which was a couple moms and their kiddos.

They were rolling around with their flippers in the air, grabbing a few smooches and snuggles in between swimming with the kiddos.

Rusty, Eddy and Patches the pelicans were there along with a few other mature pelicans. I saw Pip the pelican 2 days ago and he was looking good!

Daniko and Jasper, two male dolphins came in later in the day. Daniko was playing with a mature pelican who didn’t seem to enjoy the game as much as the dolphin.

Daniko was swimming circles around the pelican, then swim close giving the pelican a gentle bump on the way by. I’m pretty sure I heard the pelican say, “Hurumpf!” As he flew a few feet away.

Meditate on what your heart desires

The almost new moon was bright in the sky as I walked out my door. First light had the sky glowing in a romantic deep pink light. A chatty flock of gulls flew in loud and chatty. One Legger was in the mix showing her beauty and strength.

A pink sky was mostly clear except for a few swirly clouds as the sun came up to greet the day and bring us another warm, spring like day.

The energy of the new moon can be felt 3 days before and 3 days after the actual date which is February 20.

The moon said, “I’m situated in a part of the sky that may make you feel dreamy. I bring the energy of new beginnings asking you to meditate on what your heart desires."

"Pay attention to your dreams for hints about yourself. Use my energy to let go of limiting patterns, thoughts and beliefs so you can manifest your dreams!”

Commit to your goal as a team

Inhale, Exhale, Repeat.

It felt like spring sunrise with a pink filled sky. The fluffy clouds were soaking up the color show and reflecting on the sand giving us a heart opening start to the day. A phoenix looking cloud was hovering above the ocean at first light.

The flock of gulls flew in hot and chatty ready for bath time. Pelican highway was gliding over the waves heading southbound while the huge sun heading upward.

A couple pelicans diving together bring us the message of team work and commitment. “We know diving together creates a ripple effect in the water and causes the fish to move. This way we are like dolphins working together to grab snacks.”

“Let’s dive together to grab our goal, knowing we are stronger together. Take a deep breath and commit to your goal, you got this.

Be your own foundation

A lovey calm and peaceful sunrise with sweet reflections. The flock flew in at three usual time to get squeaky clean. Many of their heads are turning black which means they will be leaving soon to head north for the summer.

One of the 2 loggers was pretending to be One Legger in meditation. The sun came up big and beautiful bringing us warmth and an intense amber light dancing on the ocean.

After sunrise I had the pleasure of seeing a trio colored heron. They are gorgeous birds with long beautiful legs.

She said, “I’m here to remind you to rest deeper into your feet to create a solid foundation for yourself. Then, no matter what how skinny the branch you are standing on, you will feel stable.”

Love is a state of being

Ahhhhh, a calm and lovely start to the day with a light breeze, calm ocean and loads of wildlife. The flock flew in at their usual time for a bath and connection.

2 of the laughing gulls bring us the message of love and support. They said, “Not to worry if you are not in a relationship, love is a state of being available to everyone all the time. All you have to do is open your wings and hearts and allow it in.”

As I was watching the sun come up and kiss the ocean good bye for the day, a solo pelican was flying right toward the camera. I started snapping and noticed he had a bracelet on his foot.

He said, “In the past I was in the hospital where I learned kindness is a way to show love. The people took good care of me until I was strong enough to get back on my feet. My heart is bigger and more open as a result of that experience. Compassion truly is beautiful, and a sure way to spread the love.”

Play when life feel challenging

Mother Nature brought us a Florida winter day with chilly wind and a fifty shades of grey color show. The very loud flock of gulls flew in in a tight formation from the south.

Despite the water and wind being quite brisk, they headed into the water for their daily self care. One of the laughing gulls who was letting the cool water wash over her said, “We know self care isn’t always convenient or comfortable but it is necessary to keep our immune system strong.”

After sunrise a couple dolphin were resting in the lagoon with Pip, Eddy, rusty and Patches the pelicans. While Pip was in the pole I asked him how he did with the 35 mph gusts yesterday.

He turned and cocked his head in his silly pose rolling his eyes and said, “If I had a tongue I give you a raspberry.”

One day while in the lagoon I told him about the photo booths that Hoomans can go in and make silly faces while their photo is taken.

I guess that stayed with him because every time I went to take his photo today he made a silly face! I asked him if he was ok, then realized he was being playful. He reminds us to play, especially when life feels windy and challenging.

Play and flexibility brings smiles

It was a beautiful moody blues sunrise this morning. The wind and sand were blowing so I gave my cameras the day off from the elements. I thought a few dolphin sunset photos would bring some joy to start your day.

Daniko, a male dolphin has been around a lot. He’s the dolphin in front of the sunset. He is also the one who made the perfect circle in the water at sunset. He brings the message of being creative in the moment.

The kiddos have been very playful in the past couple weeks, showing off their pure joy and play with each other reminding us to hug and play. They said, “We know how paying can shift our mood and bring us more smiles.”

Look to your reflection for guidance

With a heavy layer of clouds and a thick layer of salty fog the morning was dark and cozy. The wet and salty air smelled amazing and felt good in my lungs. Ribbon shaped clouds soaked up the deep pastel colors giving us a unique and beautiful start to the day.

The flock flew in for bath time and we enjoyed getting squeaky clean while the moon floated in and out of the clouds.

After sunrise Spot was fishing in the calm water. He said, “I bring the message of looking at your reflection for guidance. What your life is mirroring you is a valuable tool to know yourself even better. “

Patches and her Pelican friend Pepe were hunting together while dolphins frolicked behind them. These two were showing their great teamwork as they worked together to grab teeny fish.

Don’t wait until you are grumpy

Inhale, Exhale, Repeat.

Mother Nature brought us beautiful sunrise with a diverse color palette, using all the crayons in the box. A golden funnel of light appeared before the sun, giving us a hopeful vibe to start the day.

The flock of gulls flew in at their usual time with wings and hearts open showing off the pretty in pink glow.

After sunrise there was a lot of wildlife action. It started with Big Blue, the heron screeching for a full minute at the top of his lungs as he flew from one side of the lagoon to the other. A couple minutes later Mikey the great egret followed him, also screeching!

Big Blue was too grumpy to speak with but Mikey spoke for them saying, “We bring the message of saying how you feel, but not to wait until you are so grumpy you want to screech.”

Patches the pelican was diving for snacks with her pelican posse. She said, “We highly recommend diving together. Make the commitment, synch up and go for it! We find diving as a team makes our success rate better.”
