The power of community
Mother Nature brought us a lovely start to the day with a pink and orange filled sky. The striped sun came up as a fishing boat was passing. The light breeze and calm ocean added to the serenity of the morning.
The flock of seagulls and a solo skimmer flew in to watch the sunrise. It was strange he was the only skimmer hanging out with the seagulls. Skimmers are cool birds, when they talk they sound like a barking dog and have soulful eyes that speak volumes. They are usually shy but this one walked over to say hello.
When I said to him I could see the sunrise through his eye, he said, “I’m a reminder to have compassion for others by seeing life through their lens.“
He went on to say, “I somehow got separated from my flock, so I’m hanging with the seagulls for safety. We know the power of a community coming together for a common goal. Even thought we squabble and don’t always agree we give each other comfort.”
Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Deep breath and swim forward
Another nice and easy sprint time sunrise with a light breeze and calm ocean. Before the sun came up a young shark swam at the waters edge looking for breakfast. The clouds looked like a mountain range on the horizon and for a few minutes one of the clouds had eyes piercing through.
She said, “I’m here to remind you that opportunities are abundant, all you have to do it take action. Take a deep breath and swim forward.” Sharks are very sensitive encouraging us to use our senses to know how to navigate moving forward.
After sunrise I ran into Ozzie and Harriet, a pigeon couple. They have a waterfront home in a boat where they are raising their kiddos. They said, “The secret to keeping our relationship fresh is dancing together. We highly recommend taking time to play together as a way to connect and keep the energy light.”
“We also encourage expanding past your comfort zone. Not to worry, if you get too uncomfortable you can return to your nest. Join us in dancing like no-one is watching, stretch your wings and see where they take you. “
Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Tales from the lagoon ~Episode - Relaxation is contagious
Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Relaxation is Contagious.
One of the things I enjoy the most is watching the dolphins relax with each other and the pelicans. Not only is the chill vibe is contagious, it is really fun to watch. They enjoy rolling over, snuggles, relaxing on their backs and sides.
I hope the photos help you feel relaxed.

Make several attempts
As my feet hit the sand the pink swirly clouds in the shape of an angel caught my attention. Purple, bluesy wispy brush strokes filled the sky and reflected on the wet sand adding to the creative beauty of the morning.
The absence of wind made the stillness palpable. I could feel my body match the quiet which felt amazing. Seagulls and ruddy turnstones were dashing to and fro looking for snacks as the sun came up.
The messenger of the day is a pelican who was circling and diving for snacks. As soon as he was in the water he lifted up quickly and went again. He said, “I bring the message of taking action without dawdling. You see, sometimes you have to make several attempts quickly to reach your goal.”
“I know it can be scary to dive in, but I’m here to remind you to enjoy the dive whether you get your fish or not. You are stronger and more brave than you think.”
Wishing you a beautiful day friends!
Hi Shelley, I’m circling to grab reakfast

Pippa Tales…a video with sweet pippa
Thanks to Brent Eite with Focal Point Videography, I was able to create a sweet video sowing the sweet connection with Pippa.
If you told me a few years ago I would be a photographer, I would have said, “No Way.” If you told me a few years ago, I’d be friends with dolphins and pelicans I would have said, “No Way!” I’m in awe how things have unfolded over the past few years, with Pippa being a definite highlight.

The sunrise for Sunday and more Tales from the Lagoon posts are in the previous posts.
Trust the process
Ahhhh the wind was less today giving us a serene morning with wispy clouds gently floating in the sky. A scraggly flock of seagulls flew in to say hello. Despite being a bit tattered they were spunky and full of life. They bring their usual message of opening our wings and hearts to let the light in.
A light layer of moist salt filled the air and my lungs. The scent of seaweed added to the beach ambiance.
I met a snail after sunrise who was quite chatty. As I bent down to take her photo she turned toward the camera and said, “It may seem like something is going too slow, I’m here to remind you to trust your process.”
“You see this moment creates your next moment, so I highly recommend savoring the pace and allow the magic to show up.”
Wishing you a day filled with beautiful moments.
Tales from the lagoon ~ Episode- Pippa comes to rest
Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Pippa Comes to Rest
Hi Everyone! It’s me Pippa the Pelican again. I flew in yesterday to say hi to my Hooman bestie. She was in her usual place in the water so I sauntered over to her and she knew I didn’t feel well. I told her the wind was making me really tired so we went to the beaching the sun out of the wind for a nap.
Ahhhh, the sun and sheltered from the wind was perfect. As I was relaxing, a blue heron came flying in all discombobulated. You know those tall lanky birds with attitude? He came in flustered, landed near by, gave himself a good shake, you know the really good kind of shake where your whole body feels invigorated, and your feathers go all crazy for a minute.
Shelley and I sat on the beach for a long while until I felt better. She was able to snap a few dolphin photos from the beach while I pooped 7 times which made me feel way better. I guess that saying, “Better out than in” is true!
Shelley says, “Stay tuned for more tales!”
This is me, Pippa, flying into the lagoon
Me again, looking super cute even though I feel bad.

A steady foundation
Mother Nature brought us a soft and swirly sunrise, keeping the sun muted but the cloudy haze. The cool wind continues to blow adding to the ambiance of the morning.
Sand pipers and ruddy turnstones flew in together to much on the seabed salad bar. They bring the message to eat more veggies.
After sunrise I ran into a little blue heron looking gorgeous with a hint of light on her feathers bringing out her beautiful plumage.
She was standing on the end of a branch bringing the message of being solid within to feel steady regardless of you situation. She said, “I rest into my long legs to create a steady foundation so I always feel certain of my footing. This gives me inner security that can’t be taken away.”

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Hanging with the Big Boys
So much action from 2 dolphins and about 15 pelicans. At one point I said, "Hey, Want to come over and say hi?"
A few minutes later what looked like a wall of pelicans came rushing toward me, wings flapping, beak brething, focusesd on the dolphin under water....WOOOOSH!
Camera went over my head to miss the splash. Boys...they sure are pranksters.
The pelicans were going non stop following the dolphins all over. It was total mayhem and a blast.
Stay tuned for more tales!

Be a beacon for peace
WOW! It was a gorgeous and powerful morning! As I walked into the ocean the current was strong the waves were beautiful as they soaked up the colorful light. The power of the ocean washed away any stress and tension in my body.
A small flock of seagulls flew in after the sunrise, hanging high in the sky bringing the message of getting the birds eye view. They said, “A different perspective can give you new information about a situation.”
On the way to the beach I ran into 2 doves on the sidewalk. They said, “We are in your path to bring the message of peace. When life feels hectic we recommend taking a few deep breaths, surrender and allow things to unfold organically. By being peaceful you send out energy ripples of peace to others. Join us in being a beacon for peace.”
Wishing you a lovely day friends!
Open to Infinite possibilities
With rain just before sunrise, Mother nature brought us a moody bluesy, dramatic sunrise. Storm clouds lined the horizon as silver light shimmered across the ocean. A cool wind was blowing making it feel more like a Florida Winter day rather than a spring morning.
The flock of seagulls flew in to say hello. Many of them had black heads which means it’s time to leave and go north. I asked them why they were still here and they said, “It’s colder north of here, so we delayed our departure. We find it helps to go with the flow rather than go with how it supposed to be.”
After sunrise, the dolphin, Momma Jade, along with several dolphins friends and 3 pelicans came in to enjoy the breakfast buffet. They said, "Go ahead and take a time out to hug. It will boost your immune system."
A crow was chatting up a storm on the dock nearby. He scored a sandwich for breakfast bringing the message of being creative with resources.
He said, “I’m very proud of my ingenuity. I believe in thinking outside the box because then there are infinite possibilities for me. I highly recommend being open to things working out even better than you expect!”
Wishing you a groovy day friends!

Expect the unexpected
It was a stunner of a sunrise with a light breeze, calm ocean and lovely pretty in pink color pallette. A few seagulls flew in feeling frisky. One looked like she was walking on sunshine full of joy. A large flock of Ruddy Turnstones flew in feeling happy too!
Pelican Highway was jamming too, with traffic heading northbound using the waves to carry them down the shoreline.
The almost new moon was bright in the sky as the sun came up. On Saturday we have our second new moon of the month with a solar eclipse.
New moons bring the energy of new and fresh starts, when it is accompanied by a solar eclipse, it is supercharged. This combination sets in motion the potential for new things to manifest and quickly and out of the blue over the next 6 months.
Rootie, one of the ruddy turnstones went running into the water with wild abandon. She said, “I know the power of getting squeaky clean. Getting the bugs off makes me feel so happy and light. I highly recommend letting go of the bugs you don’t need. Regular debugging can help handle the energy of the new moon.”
A box turtle was trekking across the rocks as I walked to the beach. He said, ”Not to worry if the moon and eclipse feel rocky, just take it one step at a time. Slow and steady will get you to your destination.
Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ An update from Pippa
Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- An Update from Pippa the Pelican
Hi! I’m Pippa! If you are just tuning in, I tried to eat a filleted sheepshead fish in March and well, that didn’t go so well. I call those fish the pokey fish because it has spikes! Those spikes got stuck in my gullet. As you can see from the photo where I’m showing off my gullet, I’m lucky my gullet didn’t tear.
I was in quite a pickle until the nice hoomans picked me up and took the pokey fish out for me. Phew! I got to tell you, 6 hands in my gullet was a bit overwhelming. It took 10 days to be back to myself but I’m good as new now!
I visit Shelley almost every day sometimes I stay a few minutes, other days I like to stay all day. I have my very own pole where I wait for her. It’s a great spot for naps in the sun too.
I am trying to be more social with other birds. I have to say birds are interesting. My advice is to keep an eye out for those cormorant birds, they are pretty grumpy and very bossy! The pelicans who hang out with the dolphins are a bit too intense for me. So I have a few older friends who have helped me learn how to be a pelican, since I’m still young and all.
I am flying great, sometimes I fly far away and return the next day. Ahhhh, the feeling of flight and seeing the fish below is amazing. I’m still working on my fishing abilities. The other day I thought Shelley’s ankle was a shiny fish, actually I tried to eat her ankle 3 times. Not to worry I didn’t hurt her, she giggled then gave me a lecture about fish and fishing.
She’s always saying, personal space Pippa, personal space. I’m not sure what that means but I think that’s because I flap my wings in her face when we are close.
Not to worry, I don’t approach other hoomans, when one comes near Shelley I fly away. I’m not sure how long I’ll stay but for now, I enjoy the company.
Thank you for the love,
Pippa

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Highlighting Pelican Athletes
Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Highlighting the Pelican Athletes
It wasn’t until I started hanging out with the dolphins that I had the honor of witnessing the pelicans in a new and different way. Before the lagoon, I had admired pelicans for their grace and ability to dive bomb from great heights, but now I see them in a whole new way.
Not only are they graceful but they are tremendous athletes. When they chase a dolphin they are focused, mouth (beak) breathing, wings flapping as they follow with no hesitation. They seem to have no fear that they could get snarled by the beak of another pelican, overcome with a wall of water or rammed by dolphin, they just go for it.
It truly is the wide world of sports for pelicans. I tried to choose a few photos illustrating their athletic abilities along with the highs and lows of an elite sport.
Stay tuned for more tales!
So close!
Got it!
Humor creates a shift
A lovely spring sunrise with sweet pastel colors, a clam ocean and light breeze. A scraggly flock of seagulls flew in with lots of personality.
They said they delayed their departure because of the wind. They said, “We prefer to go with the flow, bringing the message of being fluid with life details.”
After sunrise a couple of dolphins and Pippa were hanging out in the lagoon. Pippa said she heard people are asking how she is, she said she share her update later today.
The dolphins bring the message of harmony and balance. They said, “When life feels intense or challenging, remember to use humor and joy to feel centered. Humor is a great way to shift overwhelm to happy, bringing ease to your day.”
Wishing you a joyful day friends!
Stretch past your comfort zone and see what magic unfolds
The wind is starting to ease up but the ocean was still churning like a walking machine. The sun came up from behind the clouds with a golden glow. A small flock of young seagulls flew in to chat.
One said, “Keep your wings and heart open, go ahead and stretch just a little past your comfort zone and see what magic unfolds."
An osprey ready for action brings us the message of being open to take the next step. She said, "Not to worry, when the time is right, the confusion and blur will fade and what you need to see clearly will be evident."
Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Let your heart’s desires take flight
With low tide, the wet sand gave us a mirror image of the sunrise adding to the expansive feeling of the morning. The pre sunrise pink colors were soothing and sweet. It looked like Mother Nature teamed up with Batman using the Bat Ray to stream golden light into the sky giving us a hopeful vibe.
A small flock of seagulls flew in and slammed on the brakes to enjoy the sunrise. They said, “We bring the message of hanging out in place to get a new perspective. The view will help you know how to take action when the time feels right.
2 very chatty ducks flew by saying, “We encourage you to use the seagulls advice and when you feel inspired, move forward. Go ahead, let your heart’s desires take flight. Take a friend with you, it’s fun to chat on the fly.”
Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Tales from the Lagoon~ Play Time is the Secret to Happiness
This week has been amazing for play time! So many youngins flipping, jumping and belly flopping. Everyone was hugging and snuggling if they were not grabbing snacks.
In the first photo, the young dolphin showed us her belly so we know she is a female. Females have openings in the shape of a division sign and males have an exclamation sign.
Each dolphin has a unique personality to set them apart, but the all of them seem to enjoy loads of affection and connection.
Stay tuned for more tales!

See Life through the eyes of a child
The wind was whipping this morning giving us an invigorating sunrise. The sunlight streamed though the clouds giving us a hopeful vibe to start the day.
A few young seagulls came by to say hello, along with a flock of sandpipers and ruddy turnstones. The water was a bit rough so they skipped bath time today.
After sunrise a baby dolphin popped up to say hello and bring us the message of play. He said, I’m here to encourage seeing life through the eyes of child, remembering the magic all around, the newness of experiences, but most of all the joy of the little things.”
Wishing you a joyful day friends!
A message from the birds for Earth Day
A message from the birds for Earth Day.
Us birds are here to encourage taking better care of the planet. If you see garbage, will you please join us in picking it up?
One of our favorite quotes is from Eckart Tolle who says, "The pollution on the planet is a reflection of our inner pollution."
As we become healthier and more present in the moment, it inspires us to take better care of our environment.
Bird wisdom says, "To celebrate Earth Day, let's join together to make ourselves and the planet healthier."
