Change your view for a new perspective

The wind was whipping again this morning making it easy for the flock of laughing gulls to hang in place while watching the sun rise.

The color show was muted starting off blue and white adding just a soft hint of gold when they sun was up bringing the heat.

With the flock suspended in midair, I snapped photos from underneath, the moon still hanging nearby. They said, “We bring the message of changing your view to gain a different perspective. You see, just the slightest shift can change how you see things. Give it a try and see what you see.”

After sunrise, Uncle Larry, jagger a few moms and their kiddos swam into the lagoon for breakfast and playtime. Stay tuned for the full story.

Embrace your superpower, the ability to create harmony

The wind carried a hint of coolness as my feet hit the sand this morning. As the sun rose from behind the clouds, it painted the horizon in a deep orange glow that shifted to gold as it climbed higher.

When events in the world feel heavy or heartbreaking, I turn to nature for comfort. Today I wondered what message would arrive to guide us through these times.

As I was photographing the sea oats and sunrise, I thought of my late husband’s words: “Even in sadness, there is good in the world.” As I turned to walk off the beach, a single dove stood waiting among a sea of yellow flowers. Her soulful eyes spoke volumes.

She said, “Feel your emotions fully. Let yourself grieve, then remember your quiet superpower: the ability to create harmony around you. Every small act of kindness, every choice to respond with compassion, every moment you choose love over fear ripples outward. You are never powerless.”

Bird catches Ride to Hospital

My Apologies, this was from yesterday, 9.10.25

No sunrise post today....instead a royal tern gets a ride to the hospital.

At sunrise, a few of us noticed this little royal tern dragging his feathers, clearly struggling. When the flock took off and he couldn’t follow, I scooped him up, with help from a kind visitor and bundled him safely in a towel.

I’m certain this was his/her first car ride. As we arrived at the Marine Science Center, a rainbow appeared next to the lighthouse — a perfect sign of hope for this little nugget to recover. While we waited for the amazing staff to come out and collect their newest patient, a lovely couple snapped this photo of us.

Here’s to this little nugget getting the care he needs and feeling better than ever.

Thank you to the Marine Science Center for all you do for our local wildlife.

be the peace you want to see in the world

Instead of the forecasted rain, we were gifted a beautifully dramatic sunrise with so many colors!

The huge moon lingered bright in the sky, drifting in and out of cozy clouds while a soft, salty breeze filled my lungs. Every color in the crayon box lit up the horizon, painting the clouds with a vibrant glow.

The very chatty flock flew in early, eager for bath time. Among them stood a young laughing gull whose feathers shaped a white peace sign.

He looked over and said, “I’m here to remind you to be the peace you want to see in the world. Just as the moon lights the dark sky and the sun paints the clouds, you carry the power to bring calm, beauty, and harmony wherever you go.”

Full moon encourages remembering your purpose

The full moon hung bright and beautiful in the sky this morning, wrapped in soft, cozy clouds as I walked to the beach.

The sunrise was quiet yet powerful, painted in shades of blue, white, grey, and just a hint of pink glowing under the heavy horizon clouds.

Our message today comes from the moon and a duck couple who were enjoying a newly formed pond from the rain last night.

The Man in the Moon said, “This is not an ordinary moon. I am here to encourage letting go like never before and remind you of what lights up your heart with love and passion. Even if you didn’t see the eclipse yesterday, its energy is still here to help you break free of old patterns.”

The duck couple added, “If the energy feels intense, remember to flow with it. Stay grounded and open. Not to worry, you’ll know when to paddle, when to rest, and when it’s time to fly.”

A message from Hooman Resources

Hi! My name is Penny the Pelican, I met Shelley long before the infamous Pip the pelican flew in.

I’ve been in charge of Hooman Resources for Shelley for many years. She has flown the coop, which still confuses me because she doesn’t have wings.

Anywho, she will be away from the sunrise and lagoon until Monday hanging with her flock.

She said, “Now Penny, make sure you let them know how much I appreciate them all and that I can’t wait to be back connecting and sharing stories.”

While she is away if you want to check out Pips Fishy Adventure, A True Story illustrated with 56 color photos it is on www.amazon.com www.barnesandnoble.com

And did you know she made a documentary called My Invisible Husband? It’s a short documentary about healing after loss and how Shelley found her camera along with the dolphins.

Safety brings restorative rest

With a strong breeze and a sky full of clouds, Mother Nature delivered a sunrise that carried the feeling of fall. The flock arrived just as a tunnel of pink light stretched across the blue sky.

The ocean churned and shimmered, soaking up the ever-changing light show while the sun rose through a break in the clouds. So many cloud shapes this morning giving us a day to let your imagination go wild.

The gulls were getting squeaky clean and resting together. The sleeping gulls said, "We find it's best to sleep with friends. When you feel safe, it’s easier to let your guard down and find the deep, healing rest your body truly needs.”

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Rainbows, Dolphins and Ospreys, Oh My!

After sunrise I hopped in the lagoon when a sun shower came and with it a rainbow that had a subtle double rainbow for a moment. I took the opportunity to take a quick walk on the dock snapping a photo of Luna the osprey in front of of the colorful rainbow then hopped back in the river.

Ocean and Whisper, two dolphin besties were in the lagoon grabbing mullet for brunch. Uncle Larry, Jagger and several other dolphin popped in, chased mullet for a few minutes before heading out leaving Ocean and Whisper to have a private table for 2.

August is generally a little slower with dolphin activity so I am glad to head into September and see what shenanigans unfold.

Lean on me

The morning started stormy—dark grey skies, wind, and rain. But the flock was huge and full of life, reminding me to look beyond the storm. Instead of staying with the grey, I chose to go with a pink theme for the day.

Sometimes all it takes is shifting the lens to discover a softer, brighter way to start.

Vistors in the sun

Mother Nature gifted us a mystical sunrise today. The pre-dawn sky glowed in soft shades of blue and pink, reflecting beautifully across the wet sand. Clouds stretched and swirled into playful shapes, inviting our imagination to come alive.

The flock of gulls gathered in full chorus, chattering joyfully as they bathed beneath the magical sky.

And then, as the sun rose on the horizon, something extraordinary appeared — figures of people seemed to walk across the base of the glowing sun.

The “people in the sun” carry a gentle reminder: be open to the unseen. When you expand your awareness, the world reveals even more magic waiting for you to notice.

Rest and patience to feel restored

Ahhhhhh the morning started out very dark with a hint of blue as the color palate. A huge cloud wall on the horizon kept the sun hidden for a ling time bringing us the message of patience.

As the sun came up, soft light shimmered on the ocean and wet sand while the flock of gulls got squeaky clean in the warm water.

One of the gulls laying down said, “Rest is a vital part of healing and restoring. Like Mother Nature said, sometimes patience along with rest is necessary to recharge your body. Let your body’s wisdom guide you toward your best self.”

Grounded Yet Free

Mother Nature brought us a soothing overcast morning with a moody bluesy theme before the sun came up to greet the day. With soft white ethereal cloud cover, the golden globe stayed cozied up behind the horizon’s veil.

A huge flock of laughing gulls was extra chatty, ready for bathtime while watching morning come to life. A reddish egret danced along the shore looking for breakfast, flying often to a new fishing hole.

She said, “I have long legs to keep me grounded while my beautiful wings help me fly with ease. Together, they make it possible for me to move with purpose when I am inspired."

"I use my intuition to know when to stay and when to fly. I am a reminder to trust your balance, being grounded and free, so you can move with purpose when the moment feels right.”

Especially when life is stormy soak up the light

Mother Nature brought us a dramatic sunrise with every color in the crayon box and a few new colors. Blue, grey, pink and purple came together creating a stormy looking start to the day.

A line of grey clouds hovered above the ocean with occasional lightening illuminating the inside of the cloud. A very loud and chatty flock was already at the edge of the ocean ready for bath time.

When the sun came up it looked as if it had a halo glowing around the perimeter. It gave the ocean an extra long kiss goodbye as it left for the day.

An egret grabbing breakfast spread her wings and said, “When life is stormy like the sunrise that is when it’s most important to soak up the light.”

Uncle Larry and Jagger 2 male besties swam into the lagoon for an early evening dinner. Mullet and sheepshead were on the menu. When they weren’t catching fish they were chilling.

Another pod came in for a few minutes to enjoy a quick bite with Uncle Larry before swimming away as fast as they came in.

Launch into what inspires you

The air was cool with a hint of fall on the way, the ocean calm, and the sky glowing pink as the sun came up to greet the day. Clouds cozied up to the rising sun, creating an otherworldly sky for just a few minutes.

A handful of surfers and a solo dolphin rode the perfect waves while Pelican Highway glided northbound in search of breakfast.

After sunrise, a rocket soared into the sky.

The dolphin and the rocket bring us the message today, “Launch into what inspires you and brings you joy. Think outside the box. If you think it you can can create it and have fun in the process.”

Ride the currents you are drawn to

A salty cool breeze was blowing as perfectly formed waves rolled toward shore. The pre-dawn sky glowed blue and lavender, with Jupiter and Venus shining brightly above.

The chatty flock was a bit smaller this morning but just as eager to get squeaky clean. Sharks swam close to shore in search of breakfast.

As the sun came up the waves soaked up the color sending colorful sparkles into the air like living art.

Pelican Highway traffic was light, moving southbound, wings outstretched, using the waves to carry them with ease.

The pelican in the spray of the wave said, “Ride the currents you are drawn to. Relax your wings, and let the momentum carry you with ease.”

Keep the faith

The pre-sunrise sky glowed a soft blue with a hint of pink reflecting on the rippled wet sand. The flock was quiet when they arrived around 6:15, ready to get squeaky clean.

As the sun rose, a rainbow appeared in the west, just like yesterday, but this time its colors were brighter, surrounded in ethereal pink clouds.

Thanks to a passing bike rider, the flock lifted into the sky, circling around the rainbow and sun with wings and hearts wide open. One gull near the rainbow said, “Keep your wings and heart open to receive all the colors and magic life has to offer.”

The rainbow created a subtle twin for a few minutes, gracing the sky for the second day in a row. A rainbow 2 days in a row and today a double, amplifying its message, a powerful reminder for us to keep the faith.
