New moon assists in starting new year lighter

Ahhhhhh, the warmth of the sun is back! This morning, the sun made a grand entrance through the fluffy clouds, streaming golden light in every direction—a heartwarming start to the day.

The flock arrived early, silhouetted against the backdrop of the almost-new moon. Even the shy skimmers joined the gathering, flying in for bath time. One brave skimmer landed just a few feet away to deliver today’s message.

He said, “The almost-new moon reminds us to pause, rest, and get squeaky clean in every way—inside and out. It’s time to let go of old feathers and outdated beliefs so we can step into the year feeling lighter and freer.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

White Pelicans

Still no visible sunrise......I thought I'd share the beautiful white pelicans to start the day. You can see their size in the first photo next to the cormorants and brown pelicans.

This is a video from last year showing their teamwork as they feed. They don't dive for fish like the brown pelicans, they feed in unity, more like a well orchestrated ballet. Click the link to see:

Octopus Photos

It was overcast with spitting rain this morning, so I thought I'd brighten the day by sharing a few photos from yesterday’s extraordinary octopus encounter.

Here’s something fascinating I learned: male octopuses have a scoop at the end of at least one tentacle, while females have suckers all the way to the tip of their arms.

There’s been lots of input about why this beauty ended up on the beach: perhaps trying to get warm, avoiding predators, laying eggs as a female nearing the end of her life, or maybe an elder octopus experiencing confusion—like dementia in humans.

Whatever the reason, it was truly an honor to witness this moment. Watching Spot the egret observe the octopus was equally captivating. Spot wasn’t interested in harming it, just genuinely curious and respectful, as if mesmerized by its presence.

Wishing you a beautiful day with unexpected beautiful connections.

I met an Octopus!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - A Special Encounter- A Sacred Space

45 minutes of a very special connection with a octopus. This video shows about 15 seconds of the 30 minutes of connection. My phone died so the last part of the video is from my camera showing the octopus swimming into deeper water.

Not to worry, we gave him/her plenty of space. Spot the egret and Luey the Pelican were also very curious and respectful of the octopus.

An expert commented on my live video saying, “When Octopus get old they go through senescence, very similar to human dementia. As a result they start doing weird things. This one may be old and near the end of its natural lifespan.” That you Travis Brandwood

Others commented it may have laid eggs and will soon pass away.

What an honor to be with this beautiful Being

Movement, laughter and spontaneity to lift your heart

This post is a mix and match of Sunrise and Sunset

Mother Nature used her swirl paintbrush today, creating a dreamy canvas where wispy clouds transformed into shifting images and shapes. The pastel color palette danced across the sky until the sun arrived, adding its golden glow bringing warmth.

Last night, dolphins soared out of the water across the river from where I stood. Even from a distance, their joyful leaps sent waves of contagious energy. Their playful spirit was a reminder that movement, laughter, and spontaneity can lift the heaviest of moods.

They remind us, "Even if just for a few minutes, take time to giggle, to play, to be free. Play isn't just for fun—it awakens the soul and brightens the heart."

Wishing you a lighthearted and joyful day!

Go for the big one!

With rain on the way, the sky is overcast with moody blues skies accompanied by a hint of white just above the ocean.

My gear and I decided to take the day off and share a bluesy themed sunrise with a dolphin, proudly parading his enormous bluefish—his triumphant catch a reminder to go for the big one!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Sunset Party with Friends

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Sunset Party with Friends

Last night, as the sun melted into the horizon, a sushi party was in full swing. It was raining pelicans—one after another, they plunged from the sky, piercing the water with precision and scooping up massive fish.

Dolphins joined the feast, racing through the lagoon in pursuit of their own slippery snacks. The lagoon was filled with life, a frenzy of movement and energy. At one point, a large fish, in hot pursuit of a smaller one, swam into my leg, startling us both!

As the sun set, the frenzy faded.  The pelicans and dolphins relaxed enjoying their full bellies and the end to another day in the lagoon.

Let go of old emotions tucked away

The dreamy moon was high in sky surrounded by fluffy clouds as the sun came up to greet the day.

Wind whipped with gusts adding to the invigorating energy.  As the sun came up kissing the ocean goodbye for the day, it looked extra steamy with the heat escaping the ocean.

Although the full moon was 2 days ago, it brings us the message today.  The man in the moon said, “Full moons encourage closures and letting go. This month I am situated in they sky assisting you in revisiting emotions you may have tucked away.  Use my light to let go so you can step into the new year fresh and ready for the new.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Dolphin Playfully Makes Sure he’s Being Filmed

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Dolphin Playfully Makes Sure he’s Being Filmed

It is still overcast here but that makes for great fishing. Daniko, a male dolphin I’ve known since 2018 was grabbing fish with his bestie Jasper.

Daniko came by to say hello then went to grab a fish. He came up on his back, when he rolled over, made sure to look and make sure I was catching his playfully fish catch.

Be the lighthouse for others

WOWZER! A layer of clouds draped itself over the shoreline like a cozy blanket, soaking up every color in the crayon box. The ever-changing landscape was visually stunning—and felt even better.

The lively flock arrived to enjoy the beauty as well, their chatter blending with the rhythm of the waves. To the north, a pink rainbow made a rare and magical appearance. And when the sun began to rise, it looked as if it were being gently squeezed between the ocean and the clouds—only to disappear moments later.

But the lighthouse stood steady, its presence unwavering. Along with the rainbow, it brought today’s message:

"We are here to remind you to keep the faith. If you feel powerless, be the lighthouse. Shine your light for others to see.”

trust the timing and your instincts

Ahhhh, a beautiful sunrise starting with a pink glow turning to a golden warm glow. Perfect waves beckoning the surfers to come play in the watery winter wonderland.

The chatty flock of gulls were already at the edge of the shore when I arrived ready to greet the sun and get squeaky clean.

A shark grabbing breakfast in the shallows brings us the message today.  She said, “I am a reminder to use your sensitivity to know how to move forward. Like the waves, timing is important, trust the waves of momentum will come at just the right time.”

Soak up vitamin D

Ahhhhh, a sweet and salty sunrise with the sun taking center stage. As the sun came up light streamed like a golden fountain through the clouds.

The ocean churned sending salty spray into the air while light Pelican traffic cruised southbound on the highway.

One of the gulls looking like she is sitting on the sun brings us the message today.

She said, “Soak up your daily dose of vitamin D to stay healthy. Even in the cold, sunshine and nature can enhance your mood.”

surrender to the natural flow of life

Good Morning!   The morning was brisk and gorgeous!  Small fluffy clouds on the horizon soaked up the colors as the sun came up big and bold to greet the day.

Salt spray from the waves filled the air courtesy of the wind.  A very loud and large flock of gulls flew in early using the wind to hang in place.  One Legger, hook, Pixar and Peg led the flock.

After sunrise in the river a big blue heron flew in to grab breakfast in the cove.  He said, “Sure the wind can be a lot, but I find relaxing my wings and go with the wind rather than against it makes my day easier.  Instead of resisting, I find I can harness the energy by surrendering to the natural flow of life.”

Time for renewal

Mother Nature brought us a beautiful and chilly sunrise with a lovely color show. Before the sunrise a large purple cloud floated above the ocean. The cloud soaked up the ever changing color palette as the sun came up to greet the day.

The chat flock of gulls flew in to say hello and grab a bath. The golden sun came up large and beautiful filling the air with warmth.

In the shallow water of the river after sunrise I met a starfish. She brings us the message today. “I am here to remind you of your power to restore balance. Give yourself time for your mind, body and spirit to feel renewed. Just like my little legs feeling my way, you too can use your sensitivity to guide you toward restoring balance.”
