Rusty the Pelican must be Pip’s cousin

Good Morning! I’m away from sunrise but wanted to hare a tales from the lagoon featuring Rusty the pelican.

Tales from the lagoon ~ Rusty the Pelican Taste Testing

Rusty was super cute today. He stayed for several hours, hanging out on a pole, then in the water with the dolphins hoping for a fish.

He decided to search for food and taste test all the floating debris in the water. He picked things up, swished them around and spit them out.

He used to hang out with Pip the Pelican, so I think that's where he picked up the twirl. They are the only 2 pelicans I've seen do the twirl.

Pip used to talk by exhaling so I thought I'd see if Rusty could do it too. I exhaled several times showing him what it sounds like. He tried! The only way he could make the sound was to put his head down and exhale.

If you want to hear Pip talk, check out the short video below.

Balance with alone time and the flock

Venus and the almost new moon were illuminated by first light as I walked to the beach. A soft and salty breeze felt good in my lungs.

The flock was already at the edge of the ocean ready for bath time. Tiger, the Heermann’s gull was showing off how beautiful he is after getting the bugs off.

Pelican Highway brings us the message today. They said, “Sometimes it feels good to be on the highway alone, feeling the wind in our feathers. Quiet time gives us the opportunity to go within and know ourselves with more clarity.”

“Other times we enjoy being a part of pace line, helping each other navigate the currents. Being a part of a team can help us reach our destination with more ease. Not to worry, you will know when to take alone time and when to flock together.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Fresh starts in love, passion and beauty

Ahhhhh, a sweet and serene sunrise with the absence of a breeze and calm ocean. Venus and the almost new moon were very close together having a conversation.

The powerful combo of Venus along with the almost new moon brings fresh starts with love passion and beauty. The powerful combo ask us to embrace love in all ways, starting with yourself then streaming outward.

The flock flew in adding to the massage saying, “Now is the time to open your hearts and wings. Join us in being the love you want to see in the world.”

Pelican Highway traffic was jamming, heading southbound while sand pipers and ruddy turnstones scurried on the beach.

Rootie Tootie, a ruddy turnstone stopped to say, with the moon and Venus energy feeling strong, it may be best to go one step at a time. Just put one foot in front of the other, keep moving, you got this.”

Wishing you a beautiful day frilled with love!

balance with fierceness and zen moments

Mother Nature brought us a serene and lovely morning with a gorgeous golden orange color show.  The sweet flock flew in well before the sun came up with their wings and hearts open ready to connect.

Bath time was really fun as they flapped their wings getting the bugs off.  They said, “We are here to remind how a few minutes of self care a day can support your immune system. Join us in getting those pesky bugs off.”

One Legger striking her power pose brings us the message of the day.  She said, “To stay strong I make sure to have balance with my fierceness along with moments of zen.  You see, taking in the sunlight with a moment of quiet can do wonders to keep me healthy.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Strut your stuff!

WOWIE!  From start to finish the sunrise was incredibly heart opening, awe inspiring and mind altering.  The ceiling of soft clouds soaked up the breathtaking colors, changing by the minute.

The flock flew in early and were even more chatty and spunky than usual.  They stayed for bath time and to watch the sun come up.

Tiger the Heermann’s gull was in the flock of laughing gulls.  He brings us the message of confidence.

He said, “Sure, in some ways I’m different than the other gulls and that can be intimidating when I’m out numbered.  I’ve learned to step into my uniqueness and strut my stuff.  What I know is, all us birds have a unique essence and it’s a great thing to show it off, maybe even inspire someone be embracing our individual traits.”

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Show and Tell

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Show and Tell

Charley, M and another dolphin came in after sunrise for some snuggle and sushi time.  I’m certain who the 3rd dolphin was because he has a split dorsal fin.  The three of them were very sweet and snuggly today.

When they weren’t hugging they were whooshing by the camera and grabbing snacks. M grabbed a fish behind me close to the mangroves when I said, “Show me your fish?!”

He popped up with his fish, then stayed up, going super slow motion to show off his pearly whites and the tail of a fish.  Love those boys!

Stay tuned for more tales!

Stay open and ready to leap

With a slight breeze and no clouds to hide from, the sun came up big and bright, kissing the ocean as it left for the day.

The very cute and chatty flock flew in hot and ready for bath time before the sun came up.  They stayed to watch the sunrise along with a couple egrets.

The egrets were quite talkative.  They said, “We bring the message of being grounded, you see we have skinny legs and know the importance of being fully present so we feel solid but also ready to take action at any moment. And look how pretty we are with our wings and hearts open.”

So many laughing gulls are back for the winter.  Soon the herring gulls will be here too!  One of the laughing gulls needs a name.  She is very sweet and engaging, and has left foot that isn’t healthy.  Despite her leg issues she is very resilient.  Thanks for any suggestions!

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Lift each other up

Ahhhhh what a morning!   First light started with blue skies and pink rays streaming upward filling the vibe with the promise of a new day.  When the sun came up big and bright, it brought warmth, filling the sky with a golden glow.

The adorable flock flew in with Tiger the Heermann’s Gull, One Legger and Split Foot! So good to see the gang is coming back.   Just waiting for Hook and Peg to return.

2 of the gulls bring a sweet message.  They said, “It’s true we squabble, but we flock together because we know the power of a flock is important for us to prosper.   We are here to encourage lifting each other up to thrive.”

After sunrise I got to spend time with lots of dolphin.  Charley and M were there accompanied by a few moms and their kiddos.  The kiddos were very playful again reminding us to play and snuggle.  They said, “Starting the day with snuggles and play sets the tone for a great day!  Come on!  Let’s have some fun!”

Wishing you a playful day friends!

Be a part of the flock

With the threat of rain and strong gusty winds, I thought I’d change things up today with a 90 second video showcasing the beautiful flock. They said, ‘We thought it would be fun for our friends to feel what it’s like to be a part of the flock.” Music is from one of my favorite composers, Kevin P. Holt. This song is called Cresting Waves. His music is uplifting, heart opening and inspiring. The combination of the gulls and his music is a wonderful way to start to the day! Wishing you a heart expanding day friends! https://www.shelleylynchphotos.com music purchased on Artlist.io

A slight shift can create big changes

Mother Nature brought us a wonderful golden light show with streaming light through the clouds. Pelican Highway traffic was heavy, stopping for a sushi buffet at the jetty. More from that party later.

The flock of gulls flew in at their regular time and brought an old friend with them, A Heermann’s gull from California, Tiger. Tiger is a celebrity bird who spends his winters in new Smyrna Beach. He brings us the the message of reconnecting.

He said, “I love the flock and my hooman friends in New Smyrna so I return to spend time with them each year. It makes me happy to visit with my Florida Flock. Ahhh, feels good to reconnect.”

The laughing gulls held their position all around using the wind to support them. I looked up to see the birds were surrounding the moon, showing their cute belly. They said, “Be open to seeing things from a different perspective, the slightest shift in how you see life can create big changes."

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Peace rays and gratitude

Good Morning! For this Florida girl, it was a chilly start to the day with whipping chilly wind coming from the north. The chatty flock was late today. When they flew in they hung in place just a few feet away until they darted off and returned to hang in place again.

They must have closed Pelican highway going north because the pelicans were only heading southbound.

A big and glorious sun came up streaming a peace light ray through a perfect hole in the clouds. I imagined the light rays were being sent out into the would for everyone to soak up.

After sunrise Luna flew in just a few feet away to say hello. As she bounced up and down in the wind, I asked her how her foot was and she said, “It is still red and painful but that doesn’t stop me from catching fish and thriving. My secret is to rest and keep my awareness on gratitude for what feels good and strong.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode ~ White Caps and Wind Gusts Are Fun!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode ~ White Caps and Wind Gusts Are Fun!

With over 20 mph gusts and white caps on the usually calm river, dolphins of all ages were having a blast today!

Momma (the first momma dolphin I met) and Split Fin Momma along with their calves were among the playful pods.  Cliff and his buddy, 2 male dolphins were in the mix too.

When the adult were grabbing snacks the kiddos were playing, popping up out of the water like popcorn.  Then the adults joined the youngins and it was a full on wrestling, rolling around, hugging, popping out of the water, giggling kind kind of fun.  Who knew white caps could be so fun?!

Stay tuned for more tales!

Be the love you want to see in the world

Good Morning!  We are having a 50 shades of gray morning so thought I'd share a dolphin sunset from last week.

A pod of momma’s, their kiddos and a few males came in to play and grab snacks. They bring us the message of play, community and connection.

Dolphins have moods like us, some days they want to interact more than others. This night they were all about spreading smiles engaging with the camera, a paddle boarder and a boat.

They said, “Break into spontaneous play to create a shift in your mood. Go ahead, be the love we want to see in in the world.  Join us in sending out positive ripples with your smile.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Step outside your comfort zone

Ball, Ball, Ball…..seeing the sun and moon through the eyes of a dog.

The huge moon was high in the sky illuminated but he sunrise, bringing us another powerful start to the day.

The flock of gulls flew in loud and ready to connect. Waves caught the sunlight as they rolled toward shore. Pelican Highway traffic was surprisingly light.

After sunrise I ran into Luna the osprey who was napping with the moon. She said, “Ospreys are the messenger of diving into your emotions, not to worry, you won’t drown. Better to acknowledge them so they don’t build up. When it feels big, rest.”

An immature Ibis was walking the docks. She said, “Usually I bring the message of digging deep but today I’m here to encourage exploring. Go ahead, step outside your comfort zone and see what unfolds.”

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Full Moon All Day Party!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Full Moon All Day Party!

Today was one of the top dolphin parties I have ever been to, and I’m certain it was influenced by the full moon. They love to party around the full moon and this week was no exception.

The day started with a little fish chasing and snacks but it wasn’t until the afternoon when things started popping….out of the water.

A mom and a calf were hanging out when I said, “Hey Momma, can I meet your baby?” A few minutes later they were just a few feet away and the baby was swimming by saying hello.

I asked the baby if s/he wanted to pop out of water. A couple minutes later s/he swam by and laid on his side, we made eye contact and I knew something was about to happen.

Before I knew it, that calf felt out of the water and several other dolphins all of sudden showed up and were flying and kissing, splashing, chasing fish. It was crazy! I didn’t even know where to point the camera.

So much more to share from this week so stay tuned!

Endings and new beginnings

Ahhhh, a magical morning with the full moon setting as the sun came up to greet the day. With a gorgeous color palette and churning ocean, the vibe was a powerful one.

The chatty flock flew in early to say hello and grab a very quick bath before a few canines came and they flew the coop.

The full moon, lighthouse, and Pelican Highway bring us another combo message. The pelicans said, “The lighthouse represents safety and hope. We highly recommend looking for the signs like the lighthouse to help navigate the energy of the full moon.”

“You see, this moon is quite powerful, not only is it bringing the energy of endings but it is helping us wrap up anything left undone from the last 2 years. Take time to rest and recharge to stay strong an solid. New and fresh starts are on the way!”

Wishing you a a beautiful day friends!

Be open to AHA moments

The full moon was setting just a few minutes before the sun came up the greet the day.. The closer the moon got to setting the more orange it became, illuminating the surrounding sky and river.

The ocean was churning with a strong current coming up high into the dunes courtesy of the pull of the moon. When the sun came up big and bright, light rays jetted into the sky bringing the vibe of anything is possible.

The moon, sailboat and pelicans bring us a combo message today. The moon says, “I am also a lunar eclipse which means my power is concentrated. You may experience rapid changes, epiphanies or surprising AHA moments than change you. Not to worry, use my energy to let go and bring in the new that supports you even better.”

The sailboat and channel marker reminds us to look for the signs marking the way. When the road seems rough, hug the channel markers for safety.

Pelican Highway was packed today. One stream of traffic finishes the message for us. One of the pelicans leading the traffic said, “I get it, sometimes the road is bumpy, it’s ok to stop mid flight and shake off the stress, and even vomit. Remember the bumps are temporary and will pass.” Relax and ride the energy with ease."

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

YOu are strong, touch and resilient able to weather any storm

Gray fluffy clouds filled the sky before sunrise giving us a dark and cozy start to the day. The very chatty flock flew in early to say hello and get squeaky clean.

Once Legger has a twin! They were both hanging out resting and preening as the sun came up to greet the day. One Legger said, “Bird Yoga is a part of our self care, stretching keeps us limber, ready to take flight at a moments notice.”

As the sun came up, golden light streamed between the clouds and ocean adding a hopeful vibe to the morning. Pelican Highway was feeding in the streaming light, stopping to soak up the warmth.

After sunrise I ran into a unique messenger, an Eider Duck (I think). She brings us a powerful message of resilience and hope. She said, “I am here to remind you of your strength and toughness.”

“My ability to swim and fly as well as seek shelter from cold brings the message of survival. I’m a reminder to keep the faith, stay strong, you can weather any storm.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Up Close with Snuggles and Smooches

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Up Close with Snuggles and Smooches

So many stories to share but this was my favorite of the day. 3 dolphin who I know came in for snacks and to hang out. I was in the deeper end while they grabbed snacks in shallows for several hours.

When I snapped this series, they swam in from my left and broke into some spontaneous snuggling. Such an honor to be included in their snuggle fest that lasted about 5 minutes.

They always know exactly where I am, but just in case the amorousness took them over, I backed up after snapping these few photos.

Stay tuned for more tales!
