Tales from the lagoon ~ Episode Baby dolphin play time!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Baby Dolphin Play Time!

I have had the great honor of hanging out with this baby dolphin and momma all week.  A couple days it was just two adults with this baby, while on another day they were joined by a large maternity pod with several moms and their calves came in to play.

This baby is still young as you can see from the stripes.  The stripes are called fetal bands which come from being scrunched up in the mother’s womb. Fetal bands and the dark color slough off after multiple weeks.  The stripes give us a ballpark of the age.

Watching the baby this week was truly amazing.  5 days ago, she was just barely getting her nose up out of the water then a few days later she was getting half her body out of the water like a periscope going up on a submarine.  Then tonight she totally surprised me when she got almost all the way out of the water! The joy she seemed to experiencing through learning was so fun to witness.

I don’t know if she is male or female, hopefully she will show her belly soon to let us know.

Stay tuned more tales!  More from this nugget and the maternity pod coming soon.

The fetal bands appear to be fading a bit

Look at me! Quick, snap my photo!

Check out the star reflection on her belly.

Celebrate no matter the size of your achievement

Gentle swirly pink brush strokes filled the sky at first light. Low tide reflected the sunrise giving us an expansive feeling to the morning. A calm breeze and palpable quiet added to the serene vibe.

Perfect waves rolled toward shore calling to the surfers and Pelican Highway to come take a ride. Pelican highway traffic was heading mostly southbound.

As they passed by, one of the pelicans gave himself a good stretch mid air. He said, “I’m here to encourage taking time to shake off any stress and tension so you can stay the course.”

After sunrise a solo cormorant was grabbing a teeny breakfast. She said, “No matter the size of your achievement, celebrating the win is a great way to attract more abundance.”

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Let the waves carry you

Ahhhhhhhh, the big ball of light is back, big and bright. The clouds teed it up like a golf ball ready to spread the light.

The ocean and breeze were calm except for perfect waves rolling in. Water danced high in the air as the waves crashed into the shallows. The energy was one of celebration and joy.

Pelican Highway gracefully floated along the waves as well bringing us the message of going with the flow.

Along with the waves, pelican highway said, “Trust in the timing. What is meant for you will never pass you by. Use the energy of your resources to carry you forward. Not to worry if you feel a lull, another set of waves is on the way.”

Wishing you a beautiful days friends!

Joy attracts more joy

Mother Nature is on a roll this week with gentle, sweet sunrises that soothe the soul. A salty breeze felt nice on my skin and in my lungs. The absence of the flock of seagulls was noticeable without their squawking entrance.

Pelican Highway traffic was light with a rest stop near by. A solo pelican stopped on the beach to grab a snack and rest before heading back into the traffic.

After sunrise I ran into a bunny rabbit who said, “I’m here to remind you to nurture your instincts, hone your intuition as your super power. I am the messenger of abundance, desire and creativity, encouraging you to embrace your gifts of creativity.”

“Us bunnies have the ability to know when to freeze or hop forward, you too can trust yourself to know when to wait or take action.”

3 dolphins, 2 adults and a youngin' briefly came into the lagoon after sunrise. One of the adults grabbed a few fish with a pelican while the momma nursed the baby.

They bring the message of community. They said, “We bring the reminder to work together to reach a common goal. Find the joy of each other and that will bring you even more joy."

Wishing you an abundant day!

You are supported

Mother Nature brought us a gentle and soft sunrise today. A light breeze and calm ocean added to the peaceful vibe of the morning. Low tide gave us a mirror image of the sunrise which looked like a masterful painting.

Perfect waves rolled toward shore calling all surfers to come play. Pelican highway got the call too, the traffic was heaving going southbound. 2 pelicans flew by at first light holding wing tips. One of the pelicans looked almost like a ghost. They said, “We bring the message of support both from our earth flock but also our angel flock.”

A solo skimmer was flying low grabbing breakfast. She said, “Most of the skimmers have moved on from sunny Florida but I believe sometimes you gotta march to your own drum. Go ahead color outside the lines, follow your heart to know where you want to go next.”

Finally a couple down the beach were playing in the waves. The gentleman reached out to hold her hand, adding to the message of support.

Wishing you a lovely day friends!

Keep moving forward, nice and easy

Mother Nature brought us a dark and moody blues kind of sunrise. Lightning and rain on the horizon along with lightning added to the beauty of the morning.

Shimmery light danced across the water as perfect waves rolled toward shore. With the heavy layer of clouds and the absence of wildlife it was very quiet with palpable stillness.

After sunrise, Spot the egret came over to say good morning. He was named by Pip the Pelican for his 3 spots on his toes. He said, “Keep moving forward, just one step at a time. My secret is to take a deep breath, give a loud squawk and step forward.”

A turtle was looking for snacks in the shallow water. She said, “I am the messenger walking your path in peace. I recommend staying on the path even when you are uncertain. Keep the faith, stay determined and you will find your way. “

I noticed she was considering eating a piece of plastic. Before I could get to it, I was happy to see she left plastic, realizing it was a food source. She said, “I bring the message of eating healthy foods, swim away from the tempting garbage, even when you are hungry.”

“Oh, and please pick up trash when you see it, Thank you.”

Wishing you a peaceful day friends!

Relax into the moment and glide

Another dramatic yet serene sunrise with huge clouds and sultry low light. Golden light streamed from the sun through the clouds giving us a hopeful vibe.

Pelican Highway traffic was flying both south and northbound above the perfectly formed waves. One of the waves looked like it had a pair of green eyes looking out through the water.

After sunrise a spotted leopard ray (I think) was gliding in the shallow water under the dock looking for snacks. She was so graceful and gentle as she swam.

She said, “I bring the message of relaxing into the moment. Being gentle with yourself and your path helps make the journey easier. I highly recommend using your sensitivities to navigate forward. You can trust yourself."

I ran into a very chatty squirrel. He was enjoying a large nut when he said, “I’m here to remind you to enjoy the fruits of your labor. I recommend finding balance with work and play.

Yes, work is necessary and it’s also important to take time to enjoy your nuts, rather than hoarding them for a rainy day.”

Wishing you wonderful day friends!

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Pip the Pelican introduces his friends

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode - Pip the Pelican Introduces His Friends

Hi everyone it’s me Pip the Pelican! If you are just tuning in, I have had quite the adventure over the past 3 months. I’ll try to recap previous episodes.

On March 23rd, I ate a pokey fish, not to be confused with a tasty pokey bowl.

It was a filleted sheepshead fish, a spiney fish that got caught in my pouch. I sat on the beach for a few days until nice Hoomans took it out for me. I couldn’t fly for about 8 days, since the hospital was closed they told the Hoomans to feed me until I was better. Phew, I feel lucky!

I did pretty for about 6 weeks, then I got pretty sick. My Hooman friend Shelley took me to a bird place in St Augustine that fed me fish until I felt better. When they let me out after a week, I flew right back to my home in New Smyrna Beach, 75 miles.

Well, the jet lag was bad and I hurt my leg so I sat on my pole for 7 days while my Hooman friend helped me get better. They named a pole after me because I sat on it 6 weeks while healing after the pokey fish.

Now, I feel mostly good, I don’t sit on my pole anymore. I usually visit my Hooman once a day, and float around the lagoon or sit on the beach.

My other friends are there too, Mikey the great egret and Spot a snowy egret. I named Spot for the 3 spots he has on his cool looking toes. Spot, Shelley and I have sat together for many hours. I like him, he’s a cool kid.

Mikey got his name from my fisher Homan friend Donny. Mikey is really tall! He has long legs and looks like an angel when he is flying. He is called a great egret, probably because he is a really good fisher bird! He hangs out with me when I rest on the beach. He scares me a little but he isn’t as intense as the other pelicans. The mature pelicans can be very aggressive, so much so I shake when they are around.

On good days I like to play the stick game. I use my beak to pull the mangroves with all my might until I get a stick to come loose then I toss it around for a while.

Some days I take my stick to Shelley and she tosses it and I chase it. I like that game too. She said that’s why she calls me Puppy.

I still have rest days where I need to sit on the beach. I’m loosing a few feathers, I think that makes me tired. I’m lucky because Shelley, Spot and Mikey sit with me. They are my little family who help me feel safe and loved. I guess the pokey fish was a good thing.

Stay tuned for more tales!

Be bold, show off who you are

Mother Nature used gorgeous clouds and wet sand to give us a a beautiful and dramatic sunrise. At first light the clouds looked like they formed a portal opening looking like we could step through into another world. The vibe was one of wonder and awe for sure!

Light rain drizzled from the gray clouds as they floated by with the breeze. A large stingray and teeny baby shark swam in the shallows looking for breakfast while avoiding each other.

A cardinal couple was in the bush on the way off the beach. Only the male was in the mood to to pose and chat. The stingray and cardinal bring us a combo message today.

The stingray is very sensitive and knows how to blend into their environment for survival. She brings the message of discernment.

She said, “I use my sensitivity to know when to swim forward and when to hunker down, taking cover for rest and safety. I’m actually a peaceful Being, only striking out if necessary to defend my life.”

The cardinal added, “I am here to encourage you to explore new directions. Go ahead, try new things as a way to grow. As you can see from my bright color, I am very confident and willing to be seen. I’m here to remind you to be bold and show off who you are. I agree with the stingray, if you get scared, take a break then when you are ready, explore a little more.”

Wishing you a day filled with wonder!

PS! There is a fun video of Pip the pelican in previous blog. More from Pip coming later.

Relax, you are supported

Another reflective day with cotton ball clouds floating along the horizon mirroring on the wet sand. As the sun came up I saw the green flash! It was bright and looked like an explosion for a split second.

The green flash has a message for us….it is said, once you’ve seen a green flash, you’ll never again go wrong in matters of the heart.

And to add to the magic of the morning, shapes of people were on the horizon just before the sun came up. They bring the message of support and love is all around, just ask.

A juvenile yellow or black crowned heron (I’m not sure) was walking the docks after sunrise. While looking for breakfast he gave himself a really good yawn, you know the kind of yawn where your beak opens really big, your tongue comes out and every feather relaxes. He followed the yawn by a really good shake.

He said, “Us birds and dogs know the secret of a really good yawn and shake. You see when you really shake, you know the kind of shake where your whole body shakes so all the bugs fly off leaving you feeling fluffy and happy.”

“Did you know a yawn and shake cams the nervous system and lets go of stress? It’s true! I highly recommend yawning often to feel relaxed.”

Wishing you a magical day friends!

ales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Fish, Dolphins and Pelicans all Flying

Some days the dolphins are in the mood to include the camera in their shenanigans. Lucky for me, this day, was one of those days.

The dolphins were using the incoming stormy weather to party and grab loads of snacks. The pelicans joined in the buffet.

Different dolphins were coming in the lagoon as if they were running into a store to grab a few things. Everyone was flying in the air at various times, it was hard to know where to point the camera.

Stay tuned for more tales! More episodes from Momma Jade and friends and an update on Pip the Pelican on the way.

Utilize all your resources

AHHHHH, A lovely reflective sunrise with a wonderful breeze and sweet colors. Wet sand gave Mother Nature a large canvas to create another masterpiece for us.

The flock of seagulls flew in with a lot of spunk. They were squeaking at each other and chasing fish in the incoming waves.

A solo pelican and 2 dolphins stopped by for breakfast. The pelican said, “Sure I can dive for fish but I believe in using all my resources to fill my belly. I bring the message of being creative with the resources you have at your disposal to reach your goal.”

“It doesn’t make me lazy to let the dolphins help me eat, it makes me smart. Working smarter not harder is my motto and my key to survival”

A powerful assist with love and harmony

When I stepped outside, the crescent moon and Venus were glowing high in the sky. The open sky was bright with a pink and blue glow giving the moon a purple backdrop.

The planet Venus brings us the energy of love, desire, beauty, harmony and love. It's always a good thing when Venus shows up to give us kisses.

When we put the the almost new moon which brings new beginnings, together with Venus, we have a powerful assist to start fresh with love, balance, and harmony in all areas of our life.

Whether you are failing deeper in love with yourself or adding more harmony and balance to current relationships, this is a prime opportunity to expand and grow.

Most of Pelican Highway traffic flew close to shore rather than over the ocean. They agreed with the moon and Venus, showing us their connection and supportive flight patterns.

They said, “We bring the message of flying with your flock to feel supported and loved. Let the support and love carry you forward with ease.”

Wishing you a harmonious day friends!

New moon brings us a clean slate

Mother Nature used every crayon in the box this morning bringing us a colorful and dramatic sunrise. Fluffy light clouds mixed with dark storm clouds and rain adding to the drama. The clouds covering the sun gave it a heart shaped look adding to loving vibe.

Wind whipped as the ocean churned. The flock of seagulls flew in, using the wind to hang in place. One seagulls said, “As I hang in place I’m able to slow down and savor the moment.”

The almost new moon was high in the sky going in and out of the clouds. New moons bring us fresh start energy. This particular new moon is situated in the sky brining us blessings for a clean slate. It asks us to focus on gratitude for our accomplishments, both big and small.

This new moon is in the area that illuminates our home which also includes the people who feel like home. The moon says, "Harness my energy to let go of past pain so we can begin again feeling energized and excited."

Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Celebrate your ability to heal

At first light, blue sky accentuated the moon high in the sky. A few minutes later thick Sahara Sands rolled in, swirling in the sky giving us a mix of dark and sultry with a dash of pretty in pink. The light on the water and wet sand looked like a masterful painting.

Dolphins swam just past the waves while Pelican Highway traffic flew mostly southbound. While in the water I saw a starfish in the shallows bringing us the message of healing and rejuvenation.

She said, “I bring the message of rejoicing in your ability to heal. I highly recommend celebrating your how you have overcome obstacles and challenges. With time comes restoration and peace."

Did you know I have special defenses that keep me from being eaten? It’s true, they bring the message of using all your senses to navigate your life path. Your intution is your superpower to keep you safe and thrive.”

Witnessing Life together

Thanks to a ceiling of fluffy clouds the color show was exquisite this morning. The clouds soaked up all the colors while reflecting off the wet sand giving an expansive feeling.

The flock of seagulls flew in at their usual time. One seagull flew above the flock, showing the way to rise up with wings and hearts open.

Perfect waves rolled toward shore absorbing the golden and pink light as light Pelican Highway traffic floated above the curl.

After sunrise Momma Jade , her latest baby and another adult stopped by to enjoy a little quiet time together. A solo pelican joined in to relax with her flippered friends.

They enjoyed just hanging with each other bringing the message of quality time with friends. They said, “The sweet spots in life are when we just hang with our friends. Sure we like chasing snacks but witnessing life together, now that is special.”

Wishing you a day enjoying the sweet spots of life.

Soak up the light, Stay focused, take action,

The sunrise was for the birds this morning as the flock of seagulls flew in ready for bath time and long chats. The sky filled with swirling pastel brush strokes reflecting on the sand. The vibe felt gentle yet expansive.

I live in Florida where today we are experiencing the summer solstice. It is a day to celebrate light. This is a reminder to stand in the light, soak it in then let it shine through you to others. Let’s all be a beacon of love and light for the world.

The flock of seagulls and a yellow crowned night heron bring us a theme of taking action. The flock of seagulls were all about diving in.

They said, “We know diving in is how we get food and stay squeaky clean. We bring the message of going for it, remembering the journey is the fun part. Reaching you goal is the icing on the cake.”

The night heron was stealthily tip toeing down the beach looking for snacks. He sounded just like Elmer Fudd, “Be verrrrry quiet, I’m hunting wabbits, I mean crwabs.”

He went on to say, “I bring the message of focus. I agree with the seagulls, stay focused and keep stepping forward. The key is, one step at a time, you got this.”

Tales from the Lagoon ~ Episode- Epic Sushi Party in the Splash Zone

On this day the dolphins I call Momma Jade, Chip, Moxie and Charley were having a play day while the calves entertained themselves with each other. The energy was pure joy with constant activity, I didn’t know where to point the camera.

The adults were playfully chasing fish up close and personal. For most of the day they were teasing the pelicans like they were siblings. Occasionally they would toss them a fish or throw a fish into the flock and watch to see the chaos unfold.

The dolphins were playing to the camera too, swimming by super close then grabbing a fish and showing off their catch. Always an honor to be included in the mayhem.

Meanwhile the young dolphins were swimming, playing with leaves and each other. Not to worry, the adults always knew exactly where the kiddos were and could be next to them in a flash, especially if a boat approached.

You are limitless, your imagination can take you anywhere

WOW! It was truly a stunning reflective sunrise! Mother Nature was extra creative with the cloud formations that felt both magical and powerful. Before the sun came up, Pegasus, an immortal flying horse appeared in the top of the clouds with pink rain pouring out of the bottom.

Pegasus reminds us to remember what it was like to see the world though the eyes of a child. He said, “I’m here to remind you to see magic in everyday life. Remember you are limitless, your imagination and creativity can take you anywhere your heart desires."

A person shaped cloud appeared to be poking out of the bottom of the clouds peeking at his refection adding to the mystery of the morning.

The flock of seagulls flew in chatty, ready for bath time. Just 2 birds in the flock have black heads which means they are ready to find their mate. One stopped and showed the sunrise through his eyes. He said, “I agree with seeing the life through the eyes of another. You see, it can broaden your horizons of what is possible and bring new perspectives.”

Wishing you a magical day friends!
